wulfric walks over to the horse and climbs into the saddle getting used to being on the horse until lord ralthan is ready to leave

The convoy gets ready to leave and in orderly fashion sets off. For several hours you travel stopping often to rest the horses. Eventuallly you see the town of Helgrad ahead. The plan is for the Lord to rest here in town while the equipment goes ahead ready for the morning. You are given the choise. Stay in Helgrad with the Lord or go on with the equipment.

"forgive me Lord Ralthan but im not one for comfort i'll travel on with the equipment enjoy your stay ill see you on the morrow" Wulfric say as the caravan continues onward

Your choise is acknowledge with a smile and nod of the head. This is where the caravan splits. Lord Ralthen and his retinue continue to Helgard and the equipment and workers split off and circle round.

A few more hours of travel find the sky turning dark. Ahead tourch light can be seen lining the road.

Wulfric becomes more alert his hand resting on the hilt of his sword which is covered by his shield watching the surrounding shadows as they approach the torch light

As you approach some of your companions call out a greating to those stood in the tourch light. It seems they all know each other and as you listen you realise these are the workers that were left to guard the site while the Lord Ralthen prepared to return. The companions you are with are to be their relief team.

As the Wagons are unloaded and the equipment stored one on the Caravan masters approaches you.

"Ho there, You must be the new guard the house master mentioned. I'm Granger the foreman here over the summer months. Do you have a tent or do you need one providing?"

"Ho there Granger yes im the new guard name Wulfric" he says holding out a hand "and if you have a tent spare it would be appreciated"

[Talon Lord Othrim]

"Well we can find room for you in the guard hut. least it will be warm and dry for you in there with the fire pit an all."

He points over to the stables. "Once you stable your horse bring your gear over to the east side. You'll see the hut."

As you look around in the failing light it becomes apparent that the dig site is at the base of an old stone quarry. You can make out the mine, dug out and shored up with stout beams. A track has been laid for carts to remove waste material and guards are posted at what seem like evan intervals around the parimiter.

Wulfric takes his horse over to the stable and leaves it with the stable boy. collecting his gear together he walks across the camp heading towards the guards hut pausing as he crosses to look up at the sky and takes a deep breath before continuing onwards to the hut.

The hut is a reasonable size. Large enough to house 8 men comfortably. A small fire pit in the centre of the room provides some much welcomed heat. On one of the cots lays an elven looking male, asleep. Another, human by appearance boiling water in a skillet over the fire embers. He looks up at you as you enter the hut.

Wulfric nods his head at the man "which bunk is free?" he says looking round

He looks around then pokes a burning stick at a cot. "New blood eh?"

"yeah im Wulfric" he says dropping his gear by the end of the indicated bunk "Lord Ralthan is back at town resting i preferred to head on ahead and get settled here"

[Talon Lord Othrim]

The Guard looks suprised "Lord Ralthen!? Here!?" You notice monvement and the elven bunk mate lifts his head then sits up obviously interested in the conversation. They exchange a look between eath other.

"Is that a problem" Wulfric says catching the look between the two other guards

[Talon Lord Othrim]

"No no not at all" the guard by the fire says.
"It's just means that he must be planning to open the vault," the elven spoke, "He said next time he came back would have the answers he had been seeking. He must be ready."

"ready to enter the vault? what does the vault possibly contain?" Wulfric says with a slight look of worry on his face

[Talon Lord Othrim]

Elven Guard: " No idea. Apparently the workers came across a big stone door with symbols and etches of some strange dialect. Could not get it open. The dig was put on hold while he researched or something."

Human Guard: "Well looks like he found what he was after. Wonder whats in there."

"well we'll see tomorrow thats when hes due to arrive" Wulfric says looking at the two guards "so what are your names then or do i just say hey you" he says with a chuckle

[Talon Lord Othrim]

Human Guard : "I'm Yaris and that fine chizled gent overthere is Theldon. So Lord Ralthen here tomorrow. Well Theldon looks like we better polish out kit." He laughs and goes back to his now boiling water.

Theldon looks to you, "So Wulfric, thats a name from the north." His look quizical, "what brings you here to guard this dirt hole?"
