Krell tighten his grip around his knife, and start walking calmly towards the fields of stranglegroves.

On a pure survival driven impulse, Krell draws his shotgun, hoping that the muzzle fire would ignite the gas. He had a better chance of surviving a firestorm than a gas-chamber.. The chance was slim, but it was still a chance.
Before he fires his round, he looks around with his glazed eyes, hoping to spot a rock of some kind to enhance the sparks made by the shot, and thereby increasing the likelihood of igniting the deadly gas.

When he finally get his senses back, he looks at the destruction that the improvised firestorm had caused. Realizing that the majority of his gear had been destroyed by the explosion, he curses aloud.
"In hindsight that was not such a 'hot' idea.." After grinning to himself, ha stood up on unstable legs.
Looking down on his feet, he sees the burnt remains of the map and the compass is nowhere to be found. But Krell is confident that he can still find his way through the jungle. At least to the first point of interest. After that he would have to figure something out.
He slowly starts to walk, working the pain and fatigue away

Once his body has started working properly, Krell realizes that he has lost track of the first point of interest when the explosion threw him around, and created a secondary pillar of smoke. He could only hope that the firestorm had scared away the closest predators. That, or it had just peaked their interest.
Either way, he had to get a move on. He had already lost valuable time when he had gone through the stranglegroves. Without any map or compass, he would have to rely on visual confirmation. Walking to the closest tree, he took his knife in hand, and started to climb the tree with it.

You shin up the tree, but underestimate the effect it has on your already chafed hands, and as they start to bleed profusely you curse another decision, but continue to the top of the tree anyway.

"First I kill the biggest thing I've ever seen. Then I destroy a good portion of the jungle. Seems that I'm having a bad day..."
Before he moves towards the point of interest, he takes some time to use the vantage point to try and spot something else of interest between him and the point. When he is satisfied, he moves down from the tree and starts jogging in easy pace. This time he keeps his Shotgun in his hands, on the look out for anything else that could hinder his quest..

You make it halfway towards the point of interest before you notice a low pitched growling following you. You curse as you realise that the wounds on your hands haven't been bound yet, and therefore you have been leading a bread crumb trail for many of the nasties in the jungle.
whether you decide to run faster, or see what comes for you, is down to you

Suddenly, an idea comes to him. It had a low percent of success, but if it failed, he could always fight.. He stopped in his tracks, and out away his shotgun. It was only a piece of metal for an animal. But the knife, or claw, on the other hand, that was something a predator could understand.
In the fighting pits, when facing a opponent, the easiest way to win the battle before it started, was showing the enemy that you would fight until the last drop of blood. 'Killing intent' he think it was called. He just hoped that animals were more sensitive to it than humans..
He turned around, to face the coming predator, trying to focus his killing intent towards it. Hopefully the animal was looking for a damaged and easy to kill prey. But if it would find another predator, ready to fight, kill and die, then it maybe it would back down, and hunt some other prey.
If not, he could always fight...

You are hardly prepared for what now faces you. It is huge, with the body and colourings of an ancient Terra tiger, but the head that rears towards you is some grotesque combination of snake and bird, with a maw filled with malice and death. It advances, making a low growling-hiss, and then springs towards you
