I have a copy of the newly released Warhammer 40k 6th edition rules and let me say that the "leaked" version is complete and utter bullshit.

Here is a link to the codex updates on GW.com:

I edited the first post, the leaked was a pre-alpha that they said was full of "we really want to do these" rules. They said most of them would probably not make it past Peer Review stage, it seems the interviewee was accurate. Disappointing for me, some of the proposed changes were cool as shit

Remember, stealers have two advantages. Numbers and a 'I don't give a flying f@#$!' mindset thanks to the hivemind.:P

Just finished my second read through of the rules. So far I'm impressed. Won't replace Warmahordes for my tournament play but is gonna be my go to beer and chips game. Looks more fun than 4th and 5th by a long shot!

As someone who was only recently getting to grips with 5th edition rules I'm a little dissappointed that GW staff in my local store didn't see fit to tell me a new rule set was round the corner.

That said as a born again 40k'er (2nd edition baby!) I understand that fear / terror has made a return. Also what's this about parrying! That takes me back!

Anyway, as a relative noob! Could some one give me a few massive changes to 5th edition to whet my appetite?

Yeah, I just read a little more into my 6th edition rulebook, and I like what I see! Really like the hull points on vehicles and the new weapons profiles for melée weapons. Also, throwing grenades in the shooting phase, win. I could go on, but basically it looks like 6th edition is gonna be loads of fun.

Dude, they've been doing that for years...when I got into playing, they were on 3rd edition, which I bought just as 4th was coming out. It's all about that money

That said, I need to browse through the new rules (and get them for that matter) as I've been halting my return to playing til I have the new ruleset

EDIT: OMFG the rules cost $70+?!

The addition of hull points is game breaking for me! Now glancing hits only remove a hull point rather than a result from the vehicle damage table. This means that vehicles will be able to do more after suffering a glancing hit but will die sooner as well. I play Templars and Necrons and since my Templar army is undergoing a new makeover, the Necrons are my current primary army. Lets just say that gauss weapons auto glancing on a roll of 6 is awesome (for me). You can also take a royal court of crypteks at 25 pts each up to a total of 5 and if you make them Harbringers of the Storm w/ Voltaic Staffs the stats are "Assault 4, Haywire" Haywire auto glances on a roll of 2-5 and pens on a roll of a 6 when rolling to penetrate. So 5 Crypteks (125 pts) and you have to take a Necron Lord (30 pts).. you get 20 shots with that Haywire stat for 155 pts. They are probably one of the best vehicle hunters in the game now. Doomsday ark w/ 72" range S10 AP1 Large Blast template, yes plz. AP1 gets a +2 modifier on the vehicle damage table as well. I could go on... :P

I think mech will not be as dominant this edition and that is not a bad thing. Flyers on the other hand will also be an issue if you aren't prepared to deal with them. I currently have 3 with plans to increase that to 6 next month.

Last, Allies are a big game changer. Being able to make up for your armies short comings by taking something which excels is huge. The choices are somewhat limited depending on the points totals for FOC but still.. It will be interesting to see what combinations start surfacing.

We got tactical smart missiles, phase-plasma pulse rifles, RPGs, we got sonic electronic ball breakers! We got nukes, we got knives, sharp sticks...

Yeah, I like the flyer rules. And it just so happens that I bought a stormtalon for my imperial fists army right before I bought the new rules :)

I'm yet to buy the new rules. Allies interests me. That was a thing from back in the day. You could take a quarter of your army total point cost if memory serves.

So (when I get around to buying and subsequently) fielding a stormraven, I could flank it with storm talons in escort formation? As far as I'm aware storm talons aren't Blood Angels applicable, but who cares I could still paint them red and say, "yeah, they're borrowed from the Dark Angels".

That's if I'm getting I right. I of course have not read the rules and so am basing this purely on what I have heard (read on internet). As such can offer a well informed and speculative opinion based on little or no fact :D

Yes, flyers must arrive from reserve in the 6th edition rules, I believe. And the Escort Craft rule only applies to non-deepstriking reserve units. I was hoping I could drop mine in with a dreadnought drop pod on turn one. That'd be some firepower. But I suppose a unit of flanking scouts will work.

Flyers MUST come from reserve. That sucks. I mean I always tended to drop my terminator and furioso clad stormraven from reserve anyway, but a pain to have the option removed!
