He walks over to where you point out the tracks. "Humm, there old but at least they give us a heading. After you."

Lorundil takes a quicker pace but slow enough for the older Lord Algen to keep up.

While following the tracks Lorundil asks "How big is this bear? I ask because I like to know kind of foe I am fighting."

"Judging by the size of these tracks I'd say a full adult Grizzly. What I don't understand is why it's here. We have have wolves and smaller black bears but they would never attack a person unless provoked."

You both continue to follow the tracks for several hours. The woodland off the track is quite picturesque. Majestic oak trees and a few smaller pines provide a cooling shade, althought they are not dense enough to make the forest dark. Small animals can be seen skittering about, and the pleasant aroma of wild flowers fills the air.

"This is a perfect day for hunting" Lord Algen remarkes. He has a smile on his face, one of contentment.

As you make your way forward something does not look right to you. The tracks seem to weave left and right as if the bear was drunk. It's then you notice the covering on the ground. As you bend to inspect it you can see that leaves, grass and other folliage has been scattered over a frame of sticks and twigs. You lift one corner to see a pit trap, used for catching large game underneath. The drop some 15ft and 10ft round would have easily held something if it had walked out onto the framework designed to break under the weight of an animal and fallen through to the pit below.

Lorundil once again notifies Lord Algen of this and wonders if they can use this to their advantage when facing the bear.

"Lord Algen. I think I may have found a trap for an animal. Care to take a look?" Asked Lorundil.

He walks over to you. "Humm, I don't recall this ever being here before."
There is a snap of broken twigs ahead of them. As they both look up in distance a creature stands. 7ft tall this revolting creature resembles a cross between a gangly human and a bloated spider. It has long, slender arms and legs protuding from a rounded fleshy body. It has a spiders head with a pair of bulbous black eyes. It begins to jump up and down, screeching and hissing in common speach "Flesh, flesh!"

"Monster!" Shouts Lorundil.

"Lord Argel get to safety. NOW! I will handle this beast!" Spoke Lorundil as he drew out his bow and prepared to fire at the beast.

Lorundil takes a look around to see if the creature has gone away or has just hidden to prepare to get a surprise strike.

He can see that the creature has not left just moved away from them. He can see it watching them.

"Fine then. Where should we go to? We need to kill the bear and if these monsters are blocking the passage then we need to kill them or is there a way round them?" Spoke Lorundil as he kept his bow drawn.

"Fine but stay close and keep an eye out for more monsters. I have no interest in dying in a forest devoid of civilised life." Spoke Lorundil as he catches up to Lord Argel.
