talos stops as they come upon the garage on the outside of town where multiple buggies are parked, leading him to the skimmer Elise. His personal vehicle.

 

"I hear through the grapevine that hes some kinda project....SOme kind of mix of ghoul and patriarch....Know anything about weaht the hell that could be?"

Kombuse finished the sandwich easily enough with one last gulp. He was quiet for a moment as he looked like he was thinking, before Ozer-ga came to the fore. "Pha! Overgrown animals trying to hold back the inevitable. But trying to combine it with the flesh of ghouls? Shouldn't work, Patriarchs and matriarchs eventually succumb to infection just by fighting us, should be worse for whatever hairbrained idea you humans made up." It sneered before retreating back. Kombuse just shrugged. "I don't know." He gave as his true and only answer. He was in training to be a guard and that was about it.

Talos sits on the buggy.

 

"I heard the patriarchs name ios coreus...Ive heard that name alot in my travels.....What do you know about it Ozrega?"

Strangely enough after Kombuse took a seat in the passenger side for a more comfortable spot, the ghoul did surface to answer Talos. "Hey, Ozzie, what's wrong?" he asked what looked to be himself when it was directed to the ghoul. Kombuse started feeling scared all of a sudden, knowing it really belong to his ghoul friend. "He scared?" Kombuse guess a loud. The ghoul slowly came out, but letting Kombuse stay concious this time. "There's no way they brought that....thing, down and harvest what they needed. That wolf put down some of the most visicous and powerful alpha ghouls to have been spawned for centuries. No, it has to be a lie, there's nothing that should have killed that damn dog." Ozer-ga said, the growling voice now filled with fear and disbelief in equal measure. "The Black wolf, that bitch Freya's last creation, might be the only reason the states aren't as bad as china." It tried to explain, not knowing much of the patriarch besides reputation.

talos listens and pulls out a pda.

 

"One of my contacts in ho siht.....They had this."

 

He flicks it on, and the body of a massive wolf is seen. The beast awakens and snarls, tearing and roaring in fury and ripping itself free in a hail of gunfire and screams.

 

 

"And this.."

 

The feed flicks, and a man, a tired, clean shaven man with wild eyes, chained to aq chair looks at the camera.

 

"Where is........."

 

he says and looks at his body.

 

"What am.....What have you done!"

 

He tears himself free and lashes out at a guard, bludgenong him with the peices of a shattered chair.

 

'is that the black wolf you spoke of?"

Before Talos could even finish his question, Kombuse was up and out of the buggy retreating up the wall of the garage and into a high corner, Ozerga in full control now. Screeching and roaring with such desperation as an animal that has just been cornered by an apex predator, the blue glowing eye pieces wide with fear with the faux gasmask maw side open to show off the teeth and bright moltted blue interior in an animalistic tactic to make it look more scary and big, a futile tactic against the real thing. "GET HIM AWAY GET HIM AWAY GET HIM AWAY!" It roared at Talos, as if the Black wolf was in the room with them.

sighing, talos loaded a solid slug rubber shell, and fires it directly into the center of the roaring ghousl head, a fatal shot to any huiman, but to a powerful ghoul like kombus/ozere, it just dizzied the ghoul and made him fall to the floor with a wet thud.

 

"Hey...Calm your shit...Youre fine...."

 

he says, co,ming over and kicking him in the side lightly.

 

'Ima take that as a yes....."

"Ow...." Kombuse moaned as he was flipped over, his face normal now. "I don't think he is coming out anytime soon." Kombuse said as he wobbly got up from the cement floor. "Where you get those videos, they looked scary." Kombuse asked as he tried to stand up right, still having difficulty at the moment.

Talos chuckles and helps his friend to the buggy and starts it up.

 

"I have a few contacts in the goverment....He trained me ."

 

The boggy begins rolling as he pulls off the dusty streets toward the main highway leading south.

 

"I try to keep myself on top of the top killers in the states."

"Why would you do that?" he asked him as the they started on their road trip, starting to perk up now. He liked riding around and getting to see a lot of things as they passed by, new and things he knew of. He fiddled with the radio as he asked his other question. "Does that mean he's your friend?" he wondered since the man trained talos.

Talos says with a chuckle, moving the skimmer onto the highway and accelerating.

 

"YOu can call him a friend...He kinda put me in a learn or die scenario......."

"Learn or die?" Kombuse asked, not understanding the concept he had heard. 'He means either he survive and learned something or he gets killed.' The ghoul grumbled in the back of Kombuse's head. "Oh, wait what did you teached you? Or...try to...kill you for?" he asked, not sure how else to word the question in his simple little mind. But he was curious, as ozer-ga was as well, he never heard Talos speak about his life or this Krieg and Cain people.

Talos shifts the truck into gear and smiles.

 

"Survival....Sniping, close quarter combat."

 

He says with a smile, chewing some bread.

 

"he trained alot of waht he called sleeper units , just in case some dealings he had went bad."

"But bad things happen all the time." Kombuse said, refering to...well everything he has seen in his life most of the time. "Are we going to have to do anything with Cain or the wolfy thing we saw?" he asked Talos. They knew they were going to the white house to get something, but he wondered why Talos would bring up this Cain person and the man who trained him. The ghoul didn't like this little 'coincedence' of subjects. He fiddled with the radio, trying to find a station he liked that wasn't constantly spewing either depressive news or talking about how great ho siht was. They were so boring...

"were going to start a war brother."

 

he says to kombuse with a grim smile.

 

"At the white house is acahe of weapons and the entrence to a base long sealed by ho siht...Were waking up a weapon inside."

"War? War?! Why are we starting a war? I thought we were trying to keep this neighborhood safe with the guns!?" Kombuse asked rather surprised by what Talos was telling him. While he was ok with violence if it meant food on the table and some people were safe, he understood enough what war would bring after growing up in an orphanage ran by those who fought in crusades and wars frequently and he did not like it. After Kombuse made his question, the ghoul came to the fore much more excited by the prospect than the human was but with a question of his own. "Awaken? You speak as if this thing was alive?" He noted.

Talos shakes his head.

 

"The war coming isnt agaisnt people in the sanctums Kombuse...Its to fix something thats has long since not worked.....People need a goverment that will take care of them..COme in and give out medicine. Like we do."

 

Talos shifts gears and the buggy lurches forward.

 

"ANd yes....What we are trying to Wake up is a weapon much like cain..But ancient."

What Talos had said still did not comfort Kombuse at all. He didn't want hurt more people then it was needed, even then he was still uneasy and usually let Ozer-ga do it himself. But the weapon sounded weird to him. "But Talos, why are you calling it a weapon when its a person? Shouldn't we call it a person?" he asked. Ozer-ga couldn't but help chuckle at Kombuse's naive view right now. "You want me to tell him or should I?" It said to talos, not really caring who got to tell him only that it would break Kombuse down a little more just like life has been for awhile.

talos sighs and smiles.

 

"Im calling him a weapon kombuse becasue he was made to be. He isnt like you or me. He was made to be a weapon, than frozen until now....Like a violent popcicle."

 

He chews slowly and spits out a pickled pepper.

 

"ANd i know you dont like war..or fighting. but this is the only way to help all those folks who helped us...Like miss garrison! shees taking care of all those younguns we found in that hillbilly backwater! do you want something to happen to them?"

"....Nooo." Kombuse said with guilt. He knew Talos understood Kombuse, Kombuse was still getting used to the need of violence to get things done. "..But what we don't know him, what if he's different than you think he is?" Kombuse asked him now, still not giving up the idea that its still a person and not just a piece of equipment. Ozer-ga seemed getting rather annoyed with his line of thinking.
