"You have to stay with the boy....The procedure has tro be overseen...Please...Just watch over him and i will be there shortly....Trust me."

She slowly looked down, "O-okay..." Avalon moved back over to the boy. She wound her arm tight around his waist and d*CENSORED*d his good arm over her neck. She flinched slightly as she felt Shrike's power running through him.


"Please be safe....we'll be waiting for you."

You insert the boy into the pod and close the door.

It fills with green fluid and tendrils snake out, attacking to the boy

" I told you "

Shrike hisses simply, floating in the air above the boys tank.

"Trust me a bit girl..."

He chuckles, glistening ominously .

" I have the best intentions ."

Avalon sat down, watching the machine. She pursed her lips, steepling her fingers in front of her mouth. "Truth is not spoken unless compulsion drives one's words."


She ignored the mask, watching the machine for a long while. Her stomach growled loudly, making her wonder if she should go get food.

After a long time there is a soft trip of knocks.

" Avalon.... Dear... Open the door."

Avalon stood and ran to the door. She stopped with her fingers on the lock. "Tell me something only my father would know."


She had to be safe.

I took you to Epcot on your thirteenth birthday .... I also took you to Disney and made te it's a small world mascots sing to make you smile .

A voice answers tiredly

Avalon threw the door open and quickly moved to support her father and help him into the facility. "I thought you were dead..."

He slumops into your tiredly, holding you in his arms as he looks uip at shrike , who instantly drops to the ground.

 

"I almost was dear...I almost was."

"Inside, quickly." She shut the door tightly behind them, setting all the locks in place and activating the security system on the pad by the door frame. Ushering him to the chair, she helped him sit down. "You need to rest...how badly are you hurt?" Avalon moved to the medical cabinet, opening it wide, searching the contents before looking back at her father.

You see he has deep and vicious wounds, some should be bleeding profusely , but the skin is only ragged and torn.

" I'm bad... But as long as I remain awake for a while I'll be ok.."

The sight of how badly wounded her father was made Avalon blanch. She turned back to the medicine cabinet, grabbing gauze, several rolls of bandaging, vials of pain relievers, and a few needles. She moved quickly back to her father and filled a needle with pain liquid. "Don't tell me not to worry, you know that doesn't work." She knew he hadn't said it directly but they were words that passed his lips often. Wiping clean a spot on his forearm she carefully injected the fluid. Setting the needle aside she started applying gauze and bandaging the ragged cuts, moving from largest to smallest.

he watches the tank tiredly.

 

"That poor boy.."

 

He murmmers looking at the boy in the tank.

 

"Did i ever tell you hgow these poor boys came to be dear?"

"No." Avalon spoke quietly, not looking up from her ministrations. "I had forgotten they existed in all honestly....its been a long time since you've told me about the differently...creatures doesn't feel like the right word."

I made them.."

 

he says sadly, looking at the poor boy likea despondant father.

 

"When i was a saint./........I developed the technology to create them.."

Avalon looked back at the boy, her ministrations being halted by surprise. "B-but he's a ghoul......isn't he?" She looked back at her father. "You were a saint?"

"no sweetheart..He is a human......but he is more than that.....SO much more."

 

He reaches into his satchel and pulls out a metal emblem emblazoned with the symbol of the saints, an inverted xross surrounded by steel rods.
 

"Before your mother passed."

"I don't really remember much of mom...I know she always seemed to smell like vanilla, and she never said no if I asked to go outside and play, even if it was raining or snowing." Remembering her fathers wounds Avalon continued her work with the bandages. "And she made the best pie anyone had ever tasted." A small smile quirked her lips upward, but that went away with her next question.

 

"What did you do as a Saint?"

he winced at your hands.

 

"I was a scientist...A flesh crafter...I made countless soldgiers.......Weapons."

 

he touches the glass of the pod.

 

"This boy here was one of them."

She looked up at her dad with apologetic eyes but he was staring at the boy in the pod and did not notice. She was a little gentler with her movements. "A flesh crafter? That means you made humans into...into weapons? With ghouls...and other things..."
