The lashes of psionic might scour and rip the skin as it bring it's fist down again with a Pained roar.

The figure that had saved your life brings up it's mighty blade and cleaves the monsters fist from it's arm.

Exhausted and out of breath, Avalon simply laid there for a moment. With a large amount of effort she rolled over and started crawling out of sight of the large creature towards one of the side rooms. Fear still gripped her but she was to weak to get up and run.

the undead screams in fear and pain and turns to run and the world goes quiet.

 

 

"help...."

 

the young man sobs...., his voice thin and broken.

Avalon stopped and looked out of the broken wall. Slowly she pushed herself up and walked back out to the boy who had saved her life. He looked broken on the ground and tears were welling up in her eyes. "I'm sorry....I didn't mean...." She knelt down next to him again. "I don't know how I can help you..."

Fluids leak from his broken tubes. He reaches out and takes your hand.

" help me get to the barracks ... I can rest in the rejuv chamber.."

He grips his sword weakly as you notice that his heavy iron mask is broken , revealing striking green eyes.

" help me walk.... Please.."

She hushed him, carefully wrapping an arm around his shoulders to help him sit up. "Its the least I can do after you saved me. Save your strength." Avalon pulled his arm around her neck. "We're going to stand up, alright?"

He forces himself to his feet and you see that his arm is mangled, barely attached to his shoulder by a scrap of tendon.

" it's not far from here ... There's good... Good bath water... And food... Lots of food...you can have it all.."

"Hush." She put her hand against his back and managed to form a small plate of energy to support him while they walked

you see the baracks in the duistance bnut you hear a sickening crunch and the man crumbles to his kee, his knee showing a protruding bone.

Avalon flinches at the sound remembering it from the broken bones her father received from fights with the undead. Now that her adrenaline had subsided she came to a very harsh realization. Her voice cracked slightly when she spoke. "Sit for a moment...just stay here. I'll find a stretcher...or something so you don't have to walk."

 

She walked into the nearest accessible place, searching for a hammock or stretcher or wheeled piece of furniture that could hold the young man outside. Tears spilled uncontrollably down her cheeks and so much hurt welled up in her chest that she fell to her knees and sobbed quietly for a few minuets.

Shirke says into  your mind, as you come upon a dirty cabbage cart.

 

"Your father made it out of that fight alive.......hes looking for you."

Avalon was so shocked by his words that her tears stopped. She stared at the cart for a moment, slowly turning around and picking up the handles. "Do not play games with an injured heart Shirke. I saw what that creature did to him, he couldn't have holes through him like that and have survived." Her steps slowly carried her back to the young man and another tear slipped down her cheek as she relived what had happened not too long ago.

SHrike says simply as the boy tries to stand to put himself into the cart.

 

"Let me prove it to you."

A harsh look crossed her face as she walked up behind the young man, grabbing under his arms to help him onto the cart. Avalon's mind filled with displeasure, anger, sadness, and worry. 'No. That is all I have to say about that.'

 

She tried to squelch her unwanted feelings and the unpleasant look on her face before her newly acquired ward could notice. "Don't worry." she said softly. "We'll be at the barracks soon."

shrike begins to hum, causingg a high pitched scream that fills your ears with ear splitting noise. The masks eyes glow and even the boy lets out a weak yelp of pain.

 

"you WILL listen to me girl....Im no longer asking."

Avalon dropped to one knee, grabbing her head as the shrill noise rang in her mind. 'I can not...you are powerful and you are meant to be worn by only one. Putting you on myself was a huge mistake and I do not know how it affected your fate. I can not put you on that boy....for his sake, not mine.'

The mask removes itself from your hip and places itself on the boys face.

The ringing turns into an intense scream , the boys body convulses and a bright light shines from his eyes.

Like a broken projector your father clan be seen, slumped against the wall and breathing shallowly.

Bodies lay broken around him and he looks directly at the projection as if able to see it

"Oh gods, papa! Where are you?" She stood reaching out to the projection to try and grab her father. Avalon looked around the scene, looking for something to tell her where he was. "Where are you papa!?"

" I'm back home baby... "

He reaches out as if to take your outstretched hand.

" I see you've found geralder...."

He smiles and stands.

" you're ok.... That's good... Have you found varken? The towns defender?"
The mask removes itself from the boys face and casts an illusion so that the father can see the wounded warrior.

" take him to the barracks... Lock the door and I'll be there soon ok?"

"You aren't okay. I'll come to you. Just give me long enough to care for this boy...Varken. Just...don't strain yourself...I'll be there soon."
