Howdy all

We are thinking of setting up a game sometime in the near future for this epic game. Ideally we would like 8-16 people, 4-8 per team (plus AI).

Who has it and would be willing to play it for a few hours sometime.

Requirements

PC with Broadband (5Mbps down, 1 Mbps up)
Legal copy of game (steam link above $10)

Optional

Mic for your PC *

* we will be using VoIP. I will probably host a server for us to use as we do no have a paid one. It'll probably be Teamspeak3

Was intending to use XBL for VoIP so sit in parties and talk. However if we end up with PS3 players then we will just find something else to use.

BFr3 uses Gamespy to play online, so it does not have a viable VoIP service. Therefore we need Teamspeak, Ventrilo, Mumble etc. We normally use XBL and if all players have XBL we will just use that, if a PS3 or PC only player attends, I will host a server off my PC this time.

Umm

XBL = Xbox Live
VoIP = Voice over Internet Protocol

XBL has parties, which allow 8 people to talk together over the internet. So we'd assign each team a party on XBL.

If we have people who do not have XBL, then we will use Teamspeak3 (www.teamspeak.com)

DoW used some form of Live, not sure if it was Xbox but back when I was playing DoW2 i could see people playing online with their xbox and what game they were playing, if you could find confirmation whether this is the same thing your talking about using then you dont need to make a server or anything.

That's Games For Windows Live and that is obsolete. You can only chat with an Xbox on an Xbox. If you don't have an Xbox we will be using Teamspeak which is all good

Be good to rule you all in space battles or ya know on the ground which ever. Will be buying it from Steam soon as i get a chance.

hopefully steam includes official 1.1 swbf2 update.
used by many stable dedicated servers.

SWBF2 multiplayer is great I got the DLC on xbox, unlocked extra sabre wielders (kit fisto & ventress asaji) and hero assault on most maps.
Didn't happen on PC, however community did a better job with this addon:
"maps mod GWL +123 v2.2"

This thread is about setting up a game, not adding mods which quite frankly look crap. Make another thread to discuss mods please.

Content mods aren't essential.
Best sessions I've joined (like space marine) are busy ones.
happen to use lucasarts 1.1 patch.
v1.0 clients are unable to join.

1.1 patch addresses bug/stability issues, leaves game content unchanged.
Hopefully steam's smart & bundled that in the download.

BTW my ewok rocks unlike in return of the jedi.

We have a Teamspeak server for this community now. There is a sticky about it in this Forum Section. Paid for the full year

I'm getting this I can't believe it's on steam it's like a miracle. I've got team speak so when I get chance I'll get this game and look for the server
