If your "View New Content" is returning way too much stuff for your liking consider marking things As Read.
To do this click 'Mark Community Read' down the bottom left corner of the whole site and select the appropriate feature. Note: This will mark everything in that section as read.

Hehehe,
so I guess this is what it feels like when you leave the house for a little while, and find that all the furniture and decorations have been changed when you return 
I mean, I knew the site layout was changing but this new-ness is sure as hell going to take a little while to adjust to! Loving the very modern feel though
