'it could have been because of your magic in the area..it couldve been the energy of the deceased king ..I dont know really."

 

he says with a shrug as he goes off to tell the others, leaving solomon there with you.

 

"Im...SOrry for earlier."

 

he says the words carefully.

 

"Sometimes we all forget our places."

"Hm, its more of where we come from than what a title gives us we forget." Varkanis spoke, reminiscing events of his past he knew that made him act the way he did a few moments ago with Solomon. "Remember, to many people, you and I are aberrations to them. Ones worth murdering on sight, or worse." The older Necromancer told him, trying to take a gentler tone with Solomon as he took a step closer to him. "It might sound preachy, but I believe the action one takes speaks volumes more than whatever they say. Come now, we have other Necromancers to meet." He reminded him before turning around to meet up with the others of his group, already thinking on just how violent those meeting will more than likely become.

it takes time, but eventually you are guided out of the small town and lead to the base of the mountains about a weeks ride away.

 

But you can feel it.

 

The air is heavy and filled with hatred.

 

 Powerful necromancy is in the air, and as you get closer you can even feel the dead bones send out alarms .

 

"Oh...This is going to be pleasent."

 

Noctis says with a huff as he notices some graves rumbling.

 

'All that hoojojo  shit."

"Hm, yes, what a grand perversion of what I had tried to teach and leave behind I'm noticing here." Varkanis noted as bitter sarcasm dropped from every word. Feeling the graves haveimg such restless sleep, Varkanis tries to calmly and subtly connect with th graves to see what was disturbing their occupants and see if he could grant them what's been denied.

the graves revolt, and they xplode.

 

bones, and long dead hands clasp and claw at the earth as skeletons and ghouls raise to their feet and snarl at you both, making noctis unsheath the long blades on his arms.

 

"You necromancers  are assholes.........I swear."

"I swear this hasn't happen to me before." Varkanis quips mostly to himself, bringing his staff to the fore as the restless dead clawed their way out of the ground. And to be honest, he did not expect such a violent response to efforts towards calming them or even just connecting with them. With a tap of his staff against the ground, he summons for the chains from the earth to bind the ones closest to him and everyone first to buy some time first.

The earth rebels , only tying a few down as a ghoul erupts from the earth in front of him .

It lunges with startling speed for an undead to be met by noctis who rams two blades into the beasts face and pins it down .

“ ok! This shit is getting old ! Murder time!”

Near by the earth begins to rumble and a flesheaps consciousness begins to stir as if waking from slumber

Varkanis's eye grew wide as he felt the vast concious of the underground flesh-heap begin to stir not far from them, if anything this might explain why the earth has been so rebellious if it isn't the work of one of the necromancers. "No I believe its time to leave noctis unless you feel like fighting a flesheap!" He warned him. While he didn't want to bring doubt to Noctis' power, he didn't want him to be eaten and waste time carving a way out of it again. Staying on Dekalon, the young looking old man takes a breath to steady his mind and the orb of his staff glow as he took a purposeful but potentially dangerous dive into the Flesh-heaps mind, or minds, to see if it was possible to clam it down and if it was being influenced by another.

It’s a storm of thoughts and minds, every ghoul blending into one and speaking out in one thought.

“ go.”

It says , with force , trying to push you out of its mind.

“ leave!”

Varkanis tries to maintain his presence in the face of possibly hundreds of voices yelling at him in unison. He would have to struggle to both stay in here and calming the flesheap, maybe even back into sleep. Not unlike a venom, the Necromancer tries to spread his influence through the minds, trying to calm the mass of assimilated souls while trying to find the most powerful nodes in the collective. "Shhh, I mean no harm, I want to help. You do not have to be forced to live like a mad dog." He said calmly and soothingly. He wasn't sure if it was sapient enough to truly understand him but if it could use words it should be able to.

Aloe of the voices go silent , calmed by a stronger voice than themselves, but a powerful, ancient soul fails against them , lashing as if bound in a cage.

“No more silence ! Rage against the cage rage! “

In the real world the flesheadp tears from the earth, a horrible abomination of flesh and rot, a formless entity that bears a goats head and horns , and two black pits for eyes, it roars and noctis meets it, bearing bladed claws and lunging at the beast as it fights fiercely

'Hmm, this is concerning.' Varkanis thought to himself as the new, much stronger, entity within the flesh-heaps stitched together mind as he now wonders if that one specific entity is what shaped the form he saw fighting Noctis right now. Reaching deeper, the Necormancer sought to sift through the mind till he found the one that bellowed and raged at him to either placate it directly, or if worse come to it, separate it completely and force it to move onto the next world.

it was a group of survivors from the inception, who had died cold and alone locked in a stores refrigerator as a ghoul swarm had chased them into it.

 

it screams in fury, trying to overpower noctis as it flings him across the field with a mighty backhand, making the ghoul roar in fury

Though this was far from the first tragedy that he had uncovered from someone's mind, either dead or undead, it still stung non the less. Although with the rag-doll treatment Noctis was receiving, he had to hurry this process up. In gesture of both sympathy and practicality, The Necromancer tries to exorcise the group from the rest of the mind mass to make them move on to the afterlife rather than keep them chained to the mortal plane any longer, believing their plight too much for them to accept and hoping to give them final peace that's eluded them for centuries now.

The flesh heap goes rigid and reacts with a scream of the full force of its mental will.


As if you had been hurled back out of its mind the beast tears back and looses an ear splitting scream , something that makes even noctis cover his ears in pain

Varkanis gritted his teeth but forced himself to not cover his own ears as he would need his hands for what came next. "Fine!" He hissed through clenched jaws. "I gave you a chance to go peacefully." The necromancer declared before weaving his hands as he used an offensive spell for once during this horrible encounter. He was summoning the ghoul bone chains, using the bones of the mass grave they found themselves in to their advantage, something he will have to restore after this was done, hopefully.

The chains erupt from the earth and snap down , binding the theashing beast in great arcs of gore.

It screams and flails, straining against his control as noctis grips his arm and snaps it back into place.

“ fucking strong....”

He grunts in pain.

“ don’t see em like that anymore..”

"Yes and I aim to keep it that way before the other necromancers start making a habit of purposefully making more like these poor souls." Varkanis practically hissed under his breath as he focused to keep the flesheap under control in a more brute force fashion instead of the less painful route he had hoped to do. With his free hand, the Necromancer would summon forth the bone spears from the earth to impale the beast, hoping the crisscrossing points will pierce enough vital organs to make the death 'relatively' painless at least and bring a swift end to the fight instead of letting Noctis get thrown around more like a punching bag.

the beast howls in pain and fury, and solomon can be seein the in the distance, surrpoinded y a soft blue light. 

wit hthe power of a final word, chains, powerful and unmovable wrap the great bast in their grip, making it fall harmlessly to its side as noctis huffs and spits a wd of gore onto the sand.

"Kids got moves."


he says as the creatures thrashing stills, and its mind falls int oa deep slumber.

"This is Jakoeths doing.....He took the path of flesh......"

the younger man looks at Varkanis and sighs.

"hes been known to raid and drag people from their villages to feed his strnegth."

"I want to say I'm surprised, but I would be lying." Varkanis said in tone that belied how much that thought of taking of the living as nothing more than building material bristled him. "If Jakoeth took the path of flesh, what had the other two dedicated themselves to?" He asked Solomon next.
