In comparison I can immediatly tell the difference between our painting styles, I have a lot more painting techniques and you are a lot more skilled with a brush and with knowing what goes well with what in color contasts.
I hope we can share painting advice in future

It only uses 4 colors, Necron Abyss. Skull White, Chaos Black, and Asurman Blue.
First of all, a basecoat of chaos black plus necron abyss, 30:70
A thick outline for each lightning strip of necron abyss
a thinner strip with necron abyss and Skull White 80:20
then a strip that highlights certain areas 50:50
an even finer strip on even fewer ares, but in the same place as the previously applied strips, using a 30:70 mix
Then asurman blue, and walla, lightning.
Note the asurman blue can be added before or after the last strip is applied, depending how bright yu like it.
EDIT: also thin the asurman blue with a considerable amount of water.

50/50 regal blue chaos black on entire blade
ultramarines blue leaving some of the dark point
then ice blue leaving some of the ultramarines blue
then white leaving some of the ice blue showing to get the effect i got alter where your dark and light points are then use 50/50 white and ice blue to do the lightning and put a glaze of asurman blue over it.
cheers for your paint method will use that when i do my next army
@taperguy cheers for the compliment

and i have 4 more lined up to paint
1. space marine commander with power axe and storm shield (the shield is from lysander so will be either crimson fist or imperial fist not decided yet model is the space marine master of the watch as a base figure with a marine helmet instead of a bare head)
2. the bugmans collectors model (only available from bugmans bar in the uk) with axe not stool.
3. enigma miniatures chaos lord xargax
4. Eldar farseer (slightly converted)
