Hmm you will need an emporer's champion, some scouts, more marines,
but the next you'll need is the emporer's champion, then more troop selections
(you also need the codex and the 40k rule book) :P

Look at the contents, and then look at the Force Org chart.

Make sure you have 3 troop choices because almost all games reply on troops to capture objectives. I would also recommend a Storm Talon or Storm Raven to cover the skies and a Devastator Squad equipped for tank hunting.

Codex so you know just what you can buy for your guys, what counts as a troop choice, etc. Then and emperor's champion, then whatever you need I guess.

I would advise against buying a codex because the new one will be out this year and they are expensive. Borrow someones codex and photocopy the pages you need.

Ah, good plan. Wasn't award of any official announcement of a new codex

Don't buy assault marines without a lot of spare space marine bits - grey knight and dark angels veteran bits work well. Seriously, the assault squad kit is boring as hell.

So would a standard space marine battleforce work with an emperors champion added on, then the rulebook... What about BT Codex vs. Codex Astartes... and do I have to buy the measuring utensils seperately?

Don't buy the rulebook, get the Softcover Dark Vengeance rulebook. It has all the rules, none of the images or fluff and is 1/4 of the cost.

Buy a standard 4m tape measure

News to me, but if they are not allowed them then they need to get tanks. You have to have weight of fire to bring down vehicles now

i play templars, we use land raider,s predators and dreads, as well as speeders and bikes, but no dev squads, a squad can have a heavy but not an entire dev squad, and i dont even think we are allowed to have flyers, if we are i never knew we could
