"You are correct Confessor. In appearance, a feral swamp world like this would seem useless. There is only four mountain cities in total, why waste their time here?" The inquisitor asked rhetorically, bringing up an image of the four cities." In reality, Ghota acts as a perfect beach head for them to press on towards the next planet, but there is another reason..." He let it hang there for a moment.

"well inquisitor..." hans says "I know that this is important, so let us not waste time with meaningless theatrics?"

"Each of the four fortress-cities on Ghota house research stations deep within the mountain, housing relics belonging to the Great Enemy." The Inquisitor revealed, drawing a gasp from the Administrator Maria, every one else glared.

"And you didn't think to tell us beforehand?!?!" The Canonness Ariella snarled in anger,her gauntlet denting the table as she gripped it tightly.

"What the canoness says is right, how dare you allow such defiled objects to exist on one of the emperors planets!" Hans shouts as he rises from his seat, his stare cold and alarming. "Who knows what perverted research has been conducted on these foul things. Why in the emperors name were they not destroyed? None can withstand the taint of chaos, once it touches it ever defiles. This planet has been doomed just in the name of research. Pah" he spits on the floor and takes his seat once more, allowing his anger to subside a little

"You would be wise to remember who it is you speak to Confessor. The inquisition believes that in order to better fight the forces of Chaos, we must understand how their powers function. One back-water world , none would expect to house these facilities, which made it the perfect location to conduct our studies." Locun answered, avoiding their eyes.

"And now look at what that arrogance may cost!" hans rages "this perfect site has been located by the archenemy, who have sent an invasion fleet capable of sundering an entire system! We must muster an implacable defence, and deny them these relics - unless we destroy them outright!" he looks to the canoness for support in this matter.

" Our best case scenario is that the Arch-Enemy is not even aware that relics are housed here, they're most likely here to take this place as a beachhead as stated before. They won't risk destroying the cities because they in themselves can be used for later purposes." Locun surmised, he was correct though, the forces of the enemy had no way of knowing of the relics after all.

"Whether they know or not hardly matters! The Emperor's world and his people are risk! We must destroy these relics immediately and prepare the defenses!" The Canoness growled her response, her anger coming off in waves.

"I stand with the canoness here, the relics MUST be destroyed." Hans stands, and is now speaking calmer than he previously did. "If we are to eliminate the possiblity that they are here for the relics, then destroying them would be a good move. If they are after then, then they will be denied, and if not... well the universe is a few relics shorted, which can only be a good thing. We must surely also rally all the forces we can muster and repel this grevious threat?"

" The Ordo Hereticus understands this better than you think we do and attempts to destroy the relics have already been made, but to no avail. The Relics cannot be terminated by any means in our possession given our current time." The Inquisitor stated roughly to both of them, making sure to exert the authority in his tone.

" The Arch-Enemy will not risk destroying the cities from orbit, which means they'll have to mount a ground assault. That will take time, no matter how many numbers they have, taking on any of the fortress cities would be difficult. As for what we can muster Inquisitor, I have already had a detachment of over eighteen thousand Inquisitorial storm troopers dispatched and spread out through each city according, four full regiments of Trandasin Devil Hunters have also been requisitioned are even now spreading through out the cities. But most importantly...." He cut off, looking towards the Red Hunter to his right. " Captain Thorn along elements from 1st, 2nd, and 7th Company have come to this worlds defense. Their aid combined with arbites, Battle Sisters and militia already abundant amongst the populace should prove ample enough to hold the enemy off until further reinforcements can be provided."

"perhaps we could better plan for the coming conflicts, if more information about the nature and strength of this foe were to be shared amongst those present. What relics did you take, and what value do they hold?" hans asks calmly, fullyimg knowing that there will be some heavy fighting in the days to come

"From what we can gather , we will not have to face the entire fleet. It is splitting it's forces between Ghota and Rahn. Sadly, two thirds of the Fleet will be moving towards Ghota. Traitor Guard, Cultist, Mutants and the like are what we can expect, but I suspect that they will send forth Astartes of their own." The inquisitor let them absorb that information for a second. Captain Thorn grunted at the mere mention of the their long corrupted cousins.

"Traitor Astartes or not, they'll have to split their ground forces even further between the four cities, which should make it easier for us to defend ourselves. That being said, we'll have to deal with any insurgents amongst the cities." The Cannoness stated as a matter of factly, disgusted by this sitaution."And the relics?"

"The relics themselves contain the separated essence of a long forgotten Daemon Prince of Chaos." The Inquisitor revealed.

"abominable..." hans breathes as he lets the scale of the problems sink in.


He stands and surveys all the other commanders, his gaze lingering with dislike on the inquisitor. "very well, if we cannot prevent the conflict then we must deny the enemy at all costs. There are more than enough of us to hold each of the cities. How shall we divide the defense command between us?"

"Given this situation, all Arbite forces shall be placed under command of Cannoness Ariela and you Confessor Hans. Any insurrection must be rooted out swiftly and efficiently." He stated once more, looking towards the Arbite Marshal, who acknowledged the command with a nod" Once it has been rooted, your forces shall be put to the defense of both the wall and the critical locations through out the city."

"As for overall defensive command, Colonel Marras shall be granted overall command of the defenses with Captain Thorn and his subordinates acting as support." Locun continued." I have supreme faith in their capabilities and know that neither of you will fail in your duties."

"It is an honor sir." Was all the Colonel could muster, the idea of fighting alongside the Astartes appealed greatly. Thorn merely nodded.

"And what of you Inquisitor Locun?" Ariela inquired, perhaps out of place. None but her and the confessor dared to question him so far.

Locun smiled wryly" I will take lead of the Inquisitorial forces defending the relics. It is imperative none but the most highly experienced come near, lest those of a weaker mind are to be tainted."

"That you would dare suggest members of the Holy Ecclesiarchy to be weak in resolve is the gravest of insults!" Hans storms, slamming his hands down onto the table "Would that the foul denizens we are expecting arrive sooner that I may show them, and you, what an iron resolve and a belief in His divinity can do to mere flesh!"

"I mean no insult towards you Confessor, but in the past, not even the devout have been completely incorruptible. Look to Cardinal Xaphan and the Vraks War many years before for example." Locun replied, unwilling to apologize. He was merely stating the facts.

"It will be a test for even myself to stay within such close proximity to the daemon's presence."He added, his voice sincere.

"I find it the gravest matter that these relics are allowed on these grounds of the emperor. I will conduct my duty, and purge the heresy from this city, and then this world. That I promise to you, and to the Emperor!" Hans says before standing and walking towards the door
"Now, if I may be excused, I have heretics to hunt, and witches to burn. Canoness, marshal, if you would?" He indicates the door with a graceful sweep of his hand

"Duly noted."Locun replied bluntly, he smiled but there was no emotion behind it.

"Meeting adjourned. Attend to your duties with the utmost haste and may the Emperor Protect." The Inquisitor concluded the meeting, striding out from the room, Captain Thorn following behind.

The Marshal and Cannoness are quick to follow the Confessor.

"Comrades, we must attend to this cancerous rot which has been allowed to fester within the spirits of these peoples with the diligence of heart surgeons. No taint may remain at all!" Hans declares as they leave.

First he turns to the canoness "My dear, assemble your sisters, and we shall burn the heretics first from this city, and then this world."

"Marshall," he says "We must determine that absolute loyalty of every citizen in this city, please have your arbitrators and judges trawl the streets for those who me and the canoness may have missed."

"I'll see each of them either dead at my hands or hung from the gibbet by the end of this week." Ariela snarled in fury, her zealotry fueled by her hatred for the heretics.

"Not one stone shall go unturned in our hunt for the filth. This I promise you Confessor in the Emperor's Name." Golovo vowed, rubbing the pommel of his shock maul in anxiousness.

"Then I think we are agreeed" Hand says solemly. "the purge shall begin an hour from now. We must seal the city when we do so. Now I must rearm and take sustenanse"
