11 years ago on this very day, a musical visionary, genius and legend passed away from losing a tragic war to cancer. A man who holds unrivalled respect within the world of metal and had the gift of creating some of the greatest songs ever made for I am referring to Godfather of Death Metal himself, Chuck Schuldiner. In a time where MTV and glam metal was invading the world (especially the US), Chuck became a visionary by dismaying all trends in metal and created the first Death Metal album ever recorded, 'Scream Bloody Gore'. From that point onwards, the legend of Death grew and their music evolved from straight forward Death Metal to something far more, the 'final four'. These albums are seen by many as unmatched monoliths of not only Death Metal, but music in general. He was light-years ahead of his time becoming a massive inspiration to everyone that respected amazing music and many metal bands today who aspire to Chuck as a God in human form. I firmly believe that his death was the greatest blow the metal community has ever received and for someone so talented and loved life so much to die at 34 show how cruel life can be.
