Starting table top again
So I have decided to start the table top again this time for warhammer 40k. I have played Tyranids and Necrons in the past and have decided to go with Space Marine this army.
I plan on getting the starter paint kit


My next plan is to either get the Space Marine Battleforce

or

the Dark Vengance Kit

I plan to do a Dark Angel Legion Army.
Mainly Dark Angels and Angels of Redemption color scheme

Was wondering your guys thoughts on what one is better for the value.
or any other tips appreciated as well

If your doing dark angels then go for the dark vengeance box set and if you have a mate that wants chaos you could both get a box and swap models so they could have 2 sets of chaos models and you'd have 2 sets of the dark angels

Dude...you should of got the november White Dwarf..it had a gift guide..including the spacemarine MEGAFORCE!! massive value. start with that double the price but worth it trust me..

I got the mega force last year, frikken awesome. What if forge world made a mega force. 
Also you could get the spear of sicarius if they still sell it.

What they said. Dark vengeance has DA icons already sculpted on, so it's great for DA players. If you can trade or sell the Chaos you can buy more DA. I'm not sure how good the SM battleforce is; I think the units in Dv are better. If you can get the megaforce though, do that.

Yeah i would agree with authrix for starting an army the battle force or the mega force gives you everything you need to start out, the battle force alone has 15 tactical marines 5 assault marines 5 scouts and 1 rhino, which pretty much covers most of the bases you need so go for either of those choices or even both if you can afford it.

the mega force givees you a land raider, drop pod, command squad, 20 tactical marines 5 scouts and assault marines give or take

and the captain fallen, must not forget him plus an ironclad dreadnought aswell i believe.

Yup, captain and Ironclad. It's something like a 1500 point army right off the bat for a good price (cheaper than buying everything separately), as well as it being a great opportunity to kit bash some stuff too.

it is all very awesome...i am getting THE ENTIRE PAINT range fro £200 at christmas. as well as all the brushes and tools...for i have taken a few techy classes for my exams and hope to work as a model designer for GW

*thas OUR shtick* think on it...two unstoppable authors..i've been writing warhammer/40k since i was 9 and must of written over 100 short stories like that i posted on here, and around 10 books

I have decided to start with the VA set and sell off the chaos side or if i can get another person for practice games they can use that.
After that i will most likely buy the megaforce!
