Fav game by far on DS was a Civilisation kinda game, cant remember what it was called, Squad Command is the best 40K video game ever besides Winter Assualt, I like these two games because of the awesome last stand levels in there. As Guard holding a long line against countless Orks and Chaos was simply amazing.

For me, it all started with an under-rated game called Fire Warrior.

Dude you took the horrible way into the hobby :( you have my condolences

Yeah, Fire Warrior wasn't the best introduction I will admit, but it was enough to know I was on to something cool.

Fire warrior was ok wasn't the best but wasn't the worst

I got into 40K thanks to the DS....

Yes I know how sad that is. I got an R4 card for my 10th birthday and one of the hundreds of games I got (through perfectly legal methods *COUGH-bull-COUGH) was Warhammer 40,000 Squad Command. I got addicted to it. My mother demanded I get a hobby that involved socialising and one day I came across Games-Workshop, I was welcomed in, gone through the begginers walkthrough and blam, like any child who likes violent video games I got hooked.

I really wanted to play squad command, but I never had a ds. Also, now that you mention it games-workshop stores sparked my interest pretty early.

We don't have any where I'm from, in the middle of nowhere in south carolina, but sometimes my family would take trips to bigger towns with bigger malls. Sure enough, I would wander in to a GW store and stand in awe of all these miniatures covered in eagles and skulls and blood, holding bulky guns and chainsaw blades.

I love 40k.

Space Marine is what got me into it. The lore and the Tabletop is what keeps me coming back. Got to love the Ultramarines and the IG.

I bought DoW2 from the reduced section as it said it was an RTS, but it was nothing like i expected, it was far much better. I had Spellforce which was a RTS-RPG but DoW2 was something completely different. The different squads within the SP campaign really emphasized good tactics and each peice of wargear had its own history. When Thule died i was gutted, but when he came back as a freaking dreadnought i was thinking what the hell is this awesome walking tank! When i wanted more i came across a forum with mods for the Blood Angels and the Black Templars and wanted to know what was so special about these so called chapters. Thats where it really took off for me

Ive since bought DoW1, the DoW2 expandalones, Space Marine and eagerly awaiting DMO and DoW3.

I was actually trying to find a game me and my friends could play and they brought me to this. I think i stayed because it was a lot different than the regular halo and what not. But what really grabbed me was the ability to unlock your armor and look good killing :P

Gotrek & Felix, if you don't know who they are you really need to find out. Best books ever written right along side of the Gaunts Ghost novels.

Gotrek and Felix? I enjoyed the first couple, but I feel it has gotten too campy. Always know what is going to happen next and that they are always going to win. It's why I prefer the one offs, like the battle books because almost none of the characters are 'sacred' and beyond the chance of death.

You'd love Guants Ghost novels then the characters die left and right lol. Gotrek is a badass because of the axe and sooner or later he's gonna meet his destiny.

Oh I love Gortek and Felix books so much ( agree they are predictable but I love the fighting and gortek always kicking ass) like battle novels more tho because they are hopeless strugles aginst insurmountable odds and the fact that not every one survives just like in real life. like navy seals super Mack bad asses and they seem like larger then life characters but even they are mortal (uncle is a seal) the battle novels are just like that if u understand what I am saying. Space marines remind me of the seals and the battle novels remind me that even space marines are mortal.

I was in a used book store looking for something to read at school and picked up a warhammer book called The Dead and the Damned by Jonathan Green. It was an ok novel but I wanted to stick to warhammer books so I didn't have to learn a different setting every time I read a book and ended up reading the first 3 Horus Heresy novels and loved it. Picked up Dark Crusade and loved it so I'm a huge warhammer fan now.

I'm not ashamed to say this...... If I had the money to play tabletop I would be Tau. If Space Marine let you play as Tau I would. I think they are freakin awesome! :D

Tau were one of my early introductions with Firewarrior on ps2, so I get where you are coming from. But someday when I have the time/money to do tabletop, my first army will either be space marines (other than smurfs) or chaos. Hopefully Necrons at some point.

Tau are so goofy compared to every other race, I can see loving or hating them, really.

I tend to ask people who love warhammer, why do you like it? what drove you into the warhammer universe and liked it over some others such as starcraft, halo etc. if that is indeed the case.

Downloaded the Kill Team demo and I was hooked.
