Gaunts Ghosts were based during M41 800 ( Not saying we can't go back in time) they either likely found a world to settle on or were destroyed. Plus how the hell can a single squad of Guarsdmen take down 5 Chaos Marines and not lose one of their own. Thats a LITTLE over dramatic.

I actually thought dropping a necklace of demolition charges around the head of one while he was distracted was pretty funny myself. I don't remember how the others died, except that the leader was shot multiple times in the head by the indigenous people. Should have worn a helmet!
I think the point Abnet was trying to get across with that scene is that, under the right circumstances, even Space Marines can be killed as easily as a man.

Yes, well when they're over confident they get screwed. Crimson Fists (Not trying to kiss ass Gerhart) supposively they respect the enemy no matter how primitive. If they were Crimson Fists they would have advanced carefully, and would have heralded the death of them.

However in Nemesis ASSASSINS manage to kill, I think it was only 3 Space Marines, and all die in the process. Assassins>guardsmen 1000 times over.

Eh, suppose you're right. Still I love how the Ghosts are portrayed, the entire series feels a lot more...how to say...sci-fi, than other 40k novels.

Agreed. Especially now that that THQ has announced that Dark Millennium is going to be a Single Player game with a Multiplayer Component.

no - real men can stand alone against a horde of Ork/Nids and not need an entire army behind them. Imperial guard sucks - now if youre talking DOW...i actually like IG. I use SM more than anything, but IG are my second choice.
