I can't get excited for DoW3, because when I do it'll just be more last stand stuff. Therefore, it must be Last Stand.

way beyond time that we had another dawn of war... and considering the rate that they are pushing out digital content at the moment, I'm fairly hopeful

I know it's a cinematic trailer but the whole Knights VS Wraithlord bit was just superb. Cant wait for the actually thing.

And hopefully we get all races, though that might be wishful thinking. Who knows.

Was that what they were? Was thinking those were small and odd looking Titans

 

Pilot and I are hoping they go back to the DoW1 roots, with actual RTS elements, rather than the starcraft / warcraft RPG mess that was DoW2. Don't get me wrong, the DoW2 story and campaign (well Vanilla and Chaos) were epic - but the multiplayer was shocking.

 

Hell, while we're hoping for improvement, let's hope they copy a lot of the Project Dumbass / Apocalypse stuff!

I do agree with Cru. Hopefully it is more of a reworked version of Dawn of War. That game was badass for a reason. It worked well and was a superb RTS. Dawn of war 2 was more a squad based action game.  It would be great to see a good RTS game that isn't Starcraft.

 

Concerning the cinematic trailer, I thoroughly enjoyed it. When that Wraith Knight cut that Imperial Knight in half  I was losing my shit. That was among the coolest cinematics I've seen in a while.  So cheers mates! Here's to hoping for a great Dawn of War game! But remember! NO PRE-ORDERING.

Screenies look like DoW2 but that quote raises my hopes to fanboy level. Cheers metal

I can't remember exactly where I read this so take all of this with a handful of salt: 

• Base building is back 
• Cover system is based on DOW2 with some extra little bits
• Hero system similar to DOW2 wherein you have three elite slots to fill with your customised peeps 
• This can include one of the new super units (imperial knight etc) 
• 3 factions (?)

We've seen Eldar, Ork and Marines so far. Normally Chaos is front and center in reveals so perhaps they've dropped them from vanilla and are intending them to be an expansion

I can imagine that they will take the same approach as they did with the original DOW series in that the first game is the base races, and then subsequent expansions will add more races and features to the game, that or they will have an extensive DLC release schedule going on. 

 

I just hope they don't milk players of money too much, I hate that it's become a trend in recent years for some games

Yeah I'd imagine they will add in two races per expansion, but it's a shame to lose Chaos because they were far more interesting than the Orks.

 

As for microtransactions and DLC, I'd imagine they'll bring back Last Stand and microtransaction that shit. Map packs are another thing I am expecting to see. Keep drip feeding the players $5 DLC packs between expansions to keep the game fresh.

 

Did they say anything about Mod support?

I haven't seen anything about mod support yet, it would definitely be a good idea considering how well it worked for Dawn of War 1 and all.... 

Although I have to say that I can more see the type of situation where this is not allowed as it might detract from sales of DLC etc.

I am inclined to agree with the general sentiment that the gameplay trailer was a bit bad... 

 

though having said that, it's still in the early stages yet so our hopes can linger for just a little longer at least

Modability is the key thing, just what will be capable of I wonder

If they have an amazing Last Stand I can sink another 1,000 hours into I might still buy it.
