I've been following this tablet for software for sometime. It is a privacy and ease-of-use Linux OS and they're doing a crowdfunded tablet thing. The hardware is pretty awesome and cheap, so if someone is looking for a good tablet (that can also use Droid apps but isn't bloated and unsecure droid) then grab one through the link above.
Unfortunately due to my holiday I can't donate the amount required for a tablet, though if 10 of you lot donate I get one for free but I don't expect that - we can't even get full donations for the site 
Still, the OS looks like it could be a very cool alternative to Android, without all the bloat and backdoors. I've got a brand new Samsung Tab4 and I can feel it being slowed by the Samsung bloat baked in. Gonna need to flash it with a clean ROM sometime!
