I was thinking of painting the Black Templar models I have but I don't want to do them as Black Templars. What would be a good color scheme for Black Templar Crusade that has repainted their black armor?

why not do them red armour with black trim on the shoulder pads and perhaps white helmets for the commanders of squads

I'd thought about that but red is over done to me to.

you could always do it in bare metal like they have stripped the paint of their armour or the paint has been eroded by the extreme weather conditions

I like that idea. Should I do clean and shinny or dull and dirty? I'm still going to paint on crusade honors and things like that. I may even use some gold on these models.

personally id do them dull and dirty to represent the time spent on their crusade. gold would work well in small doses

Just layer the gold with Gryphon Sypea, gives it an amazing wethered look.

I'm thinking of doing something like they earn crusade badges and as they earn them they begin to color their armor. Like the command models will have more painted armor due to the fact that they have served the longest and they have won the most crusades. I'm going to do some models with their left fist painted red in honor of the crusade they fought alongside the Crimson Fist and different things like that. I'm thinking against the dirty look due to they still have the Black Templar mind set that their weapons and armor must be ritually cleaned and cared for. The weapons will have the most decoration on them as far as the gold goes and maybe a little on the commanders is what I'm seeing in my head.

Personaly I would paint basic infantry until you master your technique, then paint your command models so they get a better paint job.

The first squad made it over to the painting desk lol will begin working on them tonight. I'm also thinking maybe I should do a grey armor color instead of metal. I'm going to do metal first and see how it looks.
