http://masterminis.b...shop-part9.html

Games Workshop closed all their international HQs and fired all the employees very recently. Along with this they are merging FW and GW together into one entity and all FW products will be available through stores and the website. They also are making White Dwarf weekly not monthly and have killed off finecast. All this in an attempt to save money.

But wait there's more! - read the link and see the other rumors, some already came true (mentioned above) and they have been canning a lot of their product lines. Most of the Warhammer board games are now canned (Horus Heresy, Dreadfleet, Space Hulk, Relic, Warhammer Invasion, Chaos In The Old World, Blood Bowl: Team Manager) as well.

Seems they still haven't learned the lesson their competitors did; make things cheaper to both manufacture, buy and play.

I heard they recently announced 10-20% loss in profits recently.

EDIT: read article; 24%. Awesome :D

Woah. a 24% drop? That's nuts. Their investors must be screaming. It's entertaining though that they are shutting down all their new stuff which has the potential to make them more money. Watch them increase prices again. Which keeps out potential table top buyers (I.E. ME) from being able to hobby.

Huh....I saw this coming when the latest edition of 40k didn't really thrill me (though I of course was dumb enough to buy the rulebook)

It seems to me they don't know how customer service works. Being pricks about copyrights is not helping their public image either when you think about it.

I don't want to parrot what everyone has already said, however, I do have one relatively original comment: essentially, they've alienated their fanbase by jacking up the prices on their products even though the quality has gone down (fuck resin, bring back the pewter). Most wargamers do not have the kind of cash they seem to think we have to buy every bloody thing they can dream up. It's sad really...they weren't AS bad when I got into the hobby years ago. Unless they shape up, I see them going under in about a year or two.

I agree Dante. Back wen I started 4th edition was out and the focus was on buying what you wanted to play with. Now the focus is buy the new most expensive models or you'll get squashed by those who did.

There will always be the die hard fans, and those that like painting the models; but I predict Warmachine Tactics, which is basically a tabletop simulator, will be more attractive to casuals and startups
