This was a Ship Based RTS game similar to Command and Conquer; gather resources, build ships and structures, research upgrades and duke it out until victorious.

STA1 doesn't run on Vista, 7 or 8 sadly (XP Only) however STA2 does. If you want to try it I recommend the Fleet Operations mod, since it basically makes it a modern game with enhanced graphics (CNC3 level) and refined gameplay.

Playable Races
STA1: Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Borg
STA2: Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Borg, Species 8472, Cardassians

Here's the main purpose of this thread. There is now a project making significant headway to bring STA into the SoaSE engine.




It's months away from completion, but it brought me joy and since I know there're some Trekies here I thought I'd share.

O.. and there WILL be superweapons just like STA1 and 2

I'm a console player so wouldn't normally be interested in this sort of thing.

However, given the rumoured bullshit with microsoft's next console I think I'll be investing in a gaming PC rather than a next gen console. Plus I get to play all the cool online games that I always yearn to play but (presently) can't.

I was recently forced into going fulltime PS3 due to financial reasons and being able to play all the $5 games as if they were new is actually awesome. The same would apply to the PC.

The 720 always on DRM could be incredibly cumbersome in NZ where the net can blip out. It'd be even worse at my parents house since they can't get internet there (the cable goes past their house but the company won't add a cabinet because it would disrupt too many customers)
