Has anyone here played any games in the Tribes series? I was just browsing facebook and came accross a video for Tribes Ascend. I remember I used to play Tribes 2 back in 2001ish times when that game came out, and man was it a fantastic game. Imo it was probably the most innovative and fun game of the time. It has some incredible gameplay mechanics (even for today's standards) and the scale of it was enormous. Typical servers had like 16 vs 16 as a minimum going up to at least 64 vs 64. I wish they hadn't discontinued the series (although Tribes Ascend is out and it looks great, however I wish they made it for console). ^this clan match is really amazing/intense and is on a smallish map (to give you some scope on the size of maps, this match also has no vehicles which were essential on the larger maps).

Check out the app called Verge I Created: http://goo.gl/OFW1yl. It's only for android now, but will be out for iPhone in the near future!
It essentially allows you to share your location with your friends, family, coworkers, etc through a group in the app. You can find everyone in your group's location by pressing a button (assuming they respond to the request), and plot it on a map. From there you are given a point that is equidistant from everyone. With this you can find a place to search for and meet up and send this location to everyone in your group telling them thats where you want to meet. There's no need to enter any addresses, and all you need to do is click a few buttons.

Yes it really was. Since Tribes Ascend is free 2 play i think i'm going to try that out soon.

I had a flatmate who worked on mods for that game, never played it myself but he swore by it

Yeah I can see why it was seriously amazing. Huge maps with large amounts of players, jetpacks, innovative weapons, extremely high skill cap. Barring the graphics, I would say its better than most games out today.

A glimpse at skiing in Tribes Ascend. It is definitely slower than Tribes 2 but still looks pretty epic. I can't wait to try it out.

Yeah you're right those videos are better. I've been playing for two days and i guess im better than the people on noob servers but once you hit the regular ones people chase you down even when you grab at like 180 or 200. I really need to get better at using nitrons for boost. I do like going fast though.

The game is a ton of fun but can be extremely frustrating because some people are just really good at the game and the skill cap is extremely high. That being said this game is probably my favorite game ever.

Pretty epic match played a few days ago. The video is quite long and you may not have the time to watch it all but maybe watch one match at a time. It's still a lot of fun to watch I think, and pretty entertaining overall. It shows how much depth and strategy this game can have:
