I'm starting to read into the game a bit now that I've committed myself to getting EVE with my new laptop. I've read a little about the various factions in game and was wondering what if any impact they really have on players.

Do you choose a faction at start and are stuck with them? Are ship options limited by faction choice? Can you fight in faction PvP with the 'wrong' ship?

I remember someone mentioning a vote on faction for the Consortium so just want to be clear on the ramifications of that future vote before making my own choices.

There are almost zero consequences as a result of faction choice. I am Gallentee but we are going to be fighting for The Amarr. The main thing it affects is what area of the map you start in and what skills are available from the tutorial. You can respec from one races ships to another's in a matter of hours, the same goes for racially preferred weapons and loadouts. On EVE you can be whoever and whatever you want

I thought that was the case but wanted to be sure. I like the look of ships from all over the place and am glad I won't miss out on the chance to fly all the ones I want to eventually.

I will let you know when I am online and ready for it. Step one, sign a friggin contract! Been here two weeks without one and next pay period is coming up fast. First check to recouping moving costs, second to my new EVE machine!

It'll be awesome to have ya man. We got a lot of newbies (me included) so we're all learning and growing into our roles and dreams
