Maybe he got a lot of side points or maybe he knows how to play and isn't still learning. Any of these could be the right answer

Assists perhaps? If what you say is true and 1 kill=50pts, then any assisting, if possible in game, can be anywhere between 1-49 (if based on damage done) or an automatic 25pts.
