Sync error can come from your game choices, for example mega unit cap and hero's (unit levels) are known to cause sync.

Sure. No problem if you are late or oversleep as sleep is an important thing =)
I think the game settings were:
Apocalypse AI (So the AI is better at doing stuff)
Game Timer
Allow Honour Guards
