Eldar and Dark Eldar are my faves for lore, got massive love for the Orks, too. On the Tabletop, the most powerful races are probably Space Wolves or Grey Knights.

I have always liked the Tyranids... I was rather proud they managed to destroy the Ultramarine's 1st Company, their corpses piled meters high be damned. It's amazing to see how their statistics have shifted to somewhat match imperial guard stats from the past. If I actually felt like winning a game though, I would stick with Space Marines, be they of the Imperial or the Chaos variety.

Space Marines are badass on the table top. They can stomp other races' basic troops hands down, and they have a lot of flexiblity in terms of what units you can take to build an army towards a certain strength. Alot of other races seem to lack the versatility that the space marines bring to the table. They were my first army, and currently my biggest, so I'd have to say they're my favorite.
I really like the Dark Eldar fluff, just started building an army of them, but I have no idea how they'll perform on the table top yet.

Out of everything I ever used on tabletop it would be Orks or Eldar, 15 Dark Reapers and Maugan Rar slaughtering everything at range w a farseer guiding them, with 3 anti tank wave serpants each containing a full squad of Banshees, and a wraithlord or two for good measure (I borrowed my little brothers army with this, he's won an average of 2 games a year, I got 15 game winning streak before I decided it was too filthy).

I borrowed a freinds MASSIVE Ork army too try out, it had one Ghaskull Thraka, 2 thirty man squads of boyz, 2 three man squads of Killa Kans, and 2Death dreads, and a big mek w custom force field. Making 2 formations in this order: hq character, 10 boyz front, 3 killa kans, 1 deff dread, and the other twenty boyz in da back still in coherency. I played 2 games with it and won by the end of turn 3 in both.

Tyranids - they have such a diverse look between the different classes and if played properly are almost unmatchable in manuverabilty and numbers

That reminds me, numbers hands down have to go to the Guard, a 1000 pts game or somthing I faced 4 fifty man conscript squads, and I actually killed 150 more than that because they wont stay dead! They come back on for some more! Fortunatly 2 Baal Predators, 2 blood talin wielding death company dreadnoughts slaughtered pleny

Unless your a Nid player with 2 Tervigons, by the time I got to him his army had doubled in size!

If im honest i prefer sending in my bio-titans, its just a shame not many people play apocalyse over here :/

Ive never played against one of those, like normal titans, Im confident my 7 dreadnoughts can bring it down

I think the Necrons and Tyranids are the best. The Necrons are Very hard to kill and the Tyranids completely consume planets.

In sheer lore terms, I have to agree the 'Nids are the single most powerful force in the galaxy. The way they are written just seems to be 'They are the end of times, you cannot defeat them. lolz 'Nids win!' Makes sense, 40k's setting seems to be 'It can't possibly get worse, oh wait, it just did: The Game'
