This will be just a quick back story on them. Nothing to in depth i basically wanna throw what i have out there and see what people take it as so far, what your thoughts are on it. Keep in mind its just a fanfic so anything you think shouldnt be let me know.

The Sons of The Thousand are a chapter coming from the Gene-Seed of Magnus the Red and as such are all Pyskers. Once Magnus had seen the vision of the coming attack and the fall of his chapter he gather the five most trusted from the five Cults of The Thousand Sons and told them of the vision and a chance to save the chapter.

Which was sending the five of them (To keep there psyker Knowledge) plus an apothecary (To carry the Gene-Seed.) and techmarine (To keep the knowledge of the tech they had.) all some of the most skilled of the chapter off Prospero on board his flag ship the Photep along with the Gene-Seed of the chapter (Now about the Gene-Seed would it better to have it taken from the marines or from Magnus himself?) who's captain under orders to lead one quarter of the Sons fleet in a direct line from the system and sealed orders which where not to be opened until they reached a specified set of co-ordinates.

Here is where the story will begin in a kinda of prologue to get a feel for the Sons of The Thousand and how they came to be. I am working on a new home world they find and call home, as well as a way they keep it hidden from any who dont know its there.

Because of the Gene-Seed all members will be psykers even if not the most powerful of ones. I am still working on names for the 7 founding marines sent off world as well as names for things such as ranks and chapter master titles and such. I wish to keep the same style color scheme as the Pre-heresy Thousand Sons and maybe the Badge though changing the badge may be needed.

Also for tech i was thinking of having them in older lookin Power Armor heavily modified (sense they would have been on there own for a long time as well as remaining hidden for a while.) I know i am prolly forgetting somethings i wanted to talk about and will post them up if i remember.

Also anything you all thing i need to think of let me know as well as any thought on it so far. I am hoping to get the lore and such done so i can write another story involving other peoples characters (Like Grimaldus is doing. Amazing Idea btw Grimaldus if you read this. :) )

Anyways let me know hope to get some good feed back :)

So far they seem awesome.
Do they have any sort of driving motive or something along that?
What sort and quanity of advance gear do they have? (terminator armour, dreadnoughts, vehicals, wargear, etc.)

Pretty cool idea, keep everything in line with their lore. It helps with the fluffy stuff. Also how many are there? And are other chapters aware of them? And are they fighting anyone? Also do they have a vendetta against the space wolves?

TO keep it lore correct, the geneseed would have to be close to magnuses, his was the only one stable enough that he wouldnt risk the flesh change, Another thing you may want to look at, is the actual symbbol of the thousand sons, the current symbol of the traitor legio is the symbol of oruborous, or the never ending hunger, you may want to pick something that wouldnt in any way tie them to their main legion, inquisitors, spacewolves and the like would have a field day

@Priest As for tech i havent decided totally on it yet though i am hoping i can go with older styles of thing Pre-Heresy stuff just modified and such, and maybe a love for plasma :P . Though nothing like the other chapters that have been around and in touch longer.

And as for motive i am wanting to keep them true to the Thousands Sons way or collecting lore, but main goal i think is to find a way to redeem their father chapter. (Like i was thinking that the founders could be in stasis after everything was set up, leaving with a "We'll return when Magnus comes back to the light." something you know foretelling that hey maybe Magnus didnt fully go to chaos (Like i like to believe :D)

@White as for numbers that is something i havent decided on, one reason being that sense they were hidden or alone for a long time in setting up the chapter they may not know fully of the codex or believe in following it as strict as some chapters.

And i think that the other chapters should know of them but they are a very secretive chapter so not alot is known, to protect them from attacks and such because of their father chapter.

As for who they are fighting and they thoughts on the Wolfs. What i am thinking in the first story i write is either Necrons (Thought it would be interesting say had they made there home on a Necron Tomb World unknown till later so have had to battle for control of the planet.) Or possibly nids. (Also sorry if that isnt what you meant will explain better if needed)

And on the Wolfs i am debating on lets say that magnus told them of the fall of the chapter but not WHO (which chapter) was coming. Because he was ready to let all this happen he wouldnt have wanted ill blood between them once he was gone. Or letting a strong hatred be in place instead.

@Fenirs I was thinking the same about the symbol i may just have it be a Golden Scarab kinda like that idea. And i was aslo thinking Magnus gave a personal sample of his Gene-Seed for this task.

Another way you could bring them forward is have the Necron guy who collects people in Stasis capture them and (obviously) stasis them before the Council of Nikea. Then have them escape when some Deathwatch invade under that Inquisitor person mentioned in the Necron Codex.

Then you would be able to set up an epic story arc of loyal sons of Magnus and The Emperor who are suddenly torn between loyalties, eventually choosing to stay with The Imperium, rebranding themselves as just another chapter with forgotten founding data.

Because of this Stasis, they would have more Terminator and Dreadnought suits than usual for chapters.

@Crucias Thanks for the feed back but was so confused for a min when i started reading "that one guy, then this guy. then there was that other guy." :P

Will be looking into that though as a secondary choice, I'll read over it and see what ideas hit me and see which ones i like more :)

Oh and another thing i forgot to say, all the knowledge the Sons gathered Pre-Heresy survived as well if i can play it right because the Photep was the ship they archived all the info on before talking it to Prospero.

And as for their tech the reason i say i would like it to be older and havent them fight Necron or Nids is i want the chapter to seem to have gone threw just as much crap as their Fathers had, had to. You know look like old relics, have modified what they had improved on it.

Also about the Flesh-Change sense their Gene-Seed came directly from Magnus its not as big a problem as it was but i still think i wanna add some small chases in which it happens.

May also add a short Story of their return to Prospero well not return more of a "lets go see whats left." type thing whre they are able to recover maybe small things or bring back some of the crystals from Reflecting Caves or some such nothing huge i dont think.

Ohh speaking of those crystals could they be used on a cloak? Not like a soild one made from them but more embedded into it. Love the Salamanders cloaks and think thats a sweet idea. Just something else to add individuality to the chapter.

My only question is how they have geneseed for an entire chapter when it was 7 guys. Geneseed is generally taken from 1 guy, and put into another. The Emperor was pretty not free with build your own genetech. So I feel like you'd need more guys, or Magnus was doing some weird stuff loading up a genelocker and sending it off. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this.

From Lexicanum

Much of the Grey Knights history remains in mystery and secrecy or has been purposefully removed from archives. However according to legend, the Grey Knights began as a project during the final days of the Horus Heresy. The Emperor foresaw that the Heresy would likely end at such a great personal cost to himself that he would be prevented from actively defending mankind from the great threat of Chaos and its Daemons. So the Emperor set in motion a plan to form a defence against such evil. Malcador the Sigilite, closest of the Emperor's servants, was sent to search across the Imperium for men suitable to rise to such a burden.10 p.6-7

Malcador found twelve worthy champions; four were lords and administrators, and eight were Space Marines from both loyalist and traitor legions. These included survivors of the Eisenstein incident, Nathaniel Garro, Iacton Qruze and Amendera Kendel. During the founding of the organisation others would join them including Tylos Rubio, Mesa Varren and Garviel Loken.21 22 23 Many of the Space Marines that joined the cause hailed from Legions that had turned traitor, though they themselves had remained loyal to the Emperor. Once they had been gathered, the Emperor surveyed the chosen recruits and granted both his approval and consent to proceed with the project. So the recruits split ways to go off towards separate tasks; the four lords ventured off to lay the framework of the Inquisition, whilst the Space Marines and Malcador travelled to Saturn's moon of Titan.10 p.6-7

Titan, through Malcador's mystical means, had been hidden away from the ravages of the Horus Heresy. When they arrived they found a Fortress-monastery already fully prepared and stocked with everything necessary to create a new army of Space Marines including supplies of gene-seed, which is suspected to have been taken from the Emperor directly, and all the necessary armaments.

Hmm would it be possible for me to do something like that? Could Magnus have had something like that set up? Some place he had trying to fix the Flesh-Change? The Emperor did give him permission to do that after all, find a way to stop the flesh-change i mean. So could he have had a lab or something set up somewhere?

Also on the Homeworld of this chapter what would be more interesting them fighting Necrons for the world or Nids? Have some awesome battles in my head just not sure which would be more interesting to be the enemy.
