Propaganda: Looks like we're going to have 15-20 core players gathered from GWRS and friends from previous MMOs. Aside from an initial purchase of the game it can be played for free (optional subscription) and we'll do lots of raids (here meaning BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD rather than WoW type PVE raids). If you want to have a laugh, want to spill blood, or want a cool cloak come and play with us

 

Note: There is a Red Corsairs faction on GWRS, join up and let's spill blood!

I see, it's just that when I checked out the site it said it was an open world sandbox MMO F2P, but right now only founders can get into alpha/beta.

Yeah, $50 founder pack on steam gives 1 month of subscription, guaranteed beta access and some ingame freeium market cash (that gets refunded on launch, so go nuts buying shit)

It already is. You can be invited to play through their forums, or win a key through the many events run by third parties. When the game launches there will be no box cost and the subscription is optional (and really only required if you wish to either craft or own land)

Founders packs have been removed from Steam. Could be one of three reasons:

• They are changing the release date
  • Steam requires release dates on all advance-access games, so Trion put in the placeholder date of Sep 16th upon the original release of the packs
• It's just a Steam derp and they'll be back soon
• It's too close to open beta and launch date, so offering advance access and alpha access is now dodgy territory because people arguably won't get their moneys worth prior
  • Game is free, Patron is $15, includes $20 of ingame currency and say $5 of bonus junk -> $10 for beta access soon to be irrelevant

Obviously we're all hoping it's the third situation I described.

CBE4 is over, next up is Open Beta. We're expecting OB, Headstart and Launch dates to be dropped at PAX on Friday - here's hoping!

Indeed. Will be fun to be able to experiment in the open beta. Wont have to worry about trading time leveling up, or the shenanigans we pulled on the boats. xD

Technically you would need to be at least 30 to fully PVP assuming you know how to play your class. However it'll be a great propaganda opportunity to show off how much fun this game is to our friends

False alarm, apparently the download went live for us Closed Beta Testers and they mistakenly hailed that as the OBT download. It'll be available tomorrow.
