Doom wanted to know how I do the banner texture. So here’s a quick guide to how I do it:
[spoiler=First, get your banner (ideally a baddass one like this)][/spoiler]
[spoiler=Then open a new blank canvas EXACTLY the same size as your banner. And it HAS to be in Grayscale][/spoiler]
[spoiler=Go look for a banner texture on the internet and copy and paste it into your new canvas][/spoiler]
[spoiler=Resize it to fit the canvas][/spoiler]
[spoiler=Drag this layer into your banner canvas][/spoiler]
[spoiler=Put this layer at the top and make it a layer effect of an Overlay (some over effects below overlay might be more suitable) and adjust the layer’s opacity as necessary][/spoiler]
[spoiler=And then you will have a truly true and badass banner :D][/spoiler]

That's mostly because it is very bright.

Works a lot better with darker images.

Why not just overlay the "banner drawing" on top of the flag pic? Use a layer property like darken or multiply?
