As I have mentioned, I am working on some 13th Company Space Wolf bikers. I'm using some chaos bikers I got for a song on ebay as a base.

The riders I have no real issue with painting, it's the bikes themselves. Getting the color scheme right is tricky since Chaos bikes are a little different from Marine ones.

Anyone have some tips on the colors? I'm pretty much painting the "armor" blue, but the rest of the color scheme I'm stuck on.

At the gun, only 1 of 4 bikes is even 1/4 painted, so if y'all have some ideas, hit me. Thanks guys!

I prefer a stone look instead of gold for all the details. Whats your thinking behind the colors and what colors are you using on the infantry?

My Space Wolves have a sky blue armor set color tone with gold details. Shoulder pads are red/black and on some, yellow

I'm thinking of experimenting with wash since the 13th company has been trapped in the warp for 10,000 years, so obviously there'll be some wear and tear on their equipment

I agree the wolves of the 13th are pre-heresy so you should paint them as such. they have been described as a winter storm.

Stoopid fuqing rools.
Awesome ends with me.

You could do a lot of wear and tear like scratches and bolt holes in their armor. Make them look very dirty instead of clean polished? Devlin mud wash is good for that. Also you could mix match colors a little to show that they have had to replace some of their armor with what they took off their dead brothers and enemies. Add lots of trophies to them since they are the old school space wolves. I would go a little more grey than blue with them to show that their paint has worn down over the years.

Would a coat of thinned down grey or white over the blue help with the worn look (or a wash of the same color tones)? Some of the models are already painted blue, but I am wanting to get that "older" look to their armor

If I can't get the effect with the bikers, I'm thinking of making some Veterans painted in pre-horus heresy colors

Try maybe a grey wash, I'm not sure what will work best.

It does seem to be working actually. Here's a WiP picture of one of the bikers with the Blue undercoat and grey overcoat. The grey IS gloss, but I figure once I do the black wash, that'll mute the gloss tone and give it the worn look I want

I finished the Biker Sgt today, and he turned out very nicely. His color scheme will be brighter than the others since he IS the leader. Some of you will note the Termy helmet. It was left over from the Wolf's Head Terminator conversion I did, and since the original figure had a broken Khorne Helm, that had to go for obvious reasons. I figure the terminator helm kinda gives it a Mk. V armor look.
