[Thugren]

Arachnus stands there for a long time,  looking out ofver the wreck. he had been the older of the two omniarchs, he had been fighting when Freya had made him, and something about this sight struck him with a pang of melancholy.

 

"Its been so long.... SO very long."

The Ominarch stopped slithering and looked back to his brother with an almost depressed look, or the closest one that his features could convey at least, before he spoke. "Don't think about it, I don't.....I don't want to think about how many siblings we lost since then."  Ghiest hissed quietly before looking back at the path they got to take to go where they need to go. "Let's just make it worth it, okay?"

i remember their names... I remember this battlefield."

he lifts a claw to a turnt out wreck and a large pile of bones. The remains of a flesh heap he had killed.

 

"This was our foothold and our staging point... anod now that all that is left is bones and pale ghouls."

 

he lifts his legs and stomps on a ghoul whos senses had dulled to the point that it had stumbled beside the creature.

 

"I thought when i woke...Things would be different..That mother and aunt would have something figured out .. But nothing has changed."

"If things had changed for the better, I don't think we would have been awoken period." Ghiest thought out loud with his closest approximation to a frown with his mandibles as he continued his way, not looking at the remains of ancient ghouls or caring for the ones on the brink of death themselves. He doubted if things have gone right, that something like him and Arachnus would be needed anymore in the first place, and would have just been left to hibernate, a thought that stung him deeper than any wound he had taken before. And he's been blown in half before he went into hibernation.

the grub chips as the gator moves before them, obviously uncaring about their meloncholy.

 

"The3 humans are  getting stronger....The ghousl arent all too much of a threat... SAt least the ant worker ones."

Sethis just have off a acknowledging hiss, not really caring for whatever little progress the humans made when it's obvious Nightmare was still around but not wanting to completely blow off the little grub. He obviously didn't share the same faith in humanity as Scourge did, seeing too many times how humans shot themselves in the foot when it came to staving off their own extinction. Barely surviving only because of what Freya, Nocturne, and Augustus did for them.

arachnus continues to walk, his feet crunching bones and flesh as he finally speaks.

 

"i wonder waht is on the mountains that mother is calling us for."
 

Scourge pipes up with a smirk.

 

"Maybe another brother!"

"Could be a sister too, be interesting to see who or what we're going after for mother." Ghiest reminded him as he slithered along. It was rather odd that their given objective was....vague to say the least. Maybe she didn't have the time to explain it all to them, but it made him realize their mission might be a little more difficult if they don't even know what they're looking for. 'Maybe it'll be obvious when we get there...' he thought to himself, or more like hoped.

you walk from the DMZ for many hours, deep into the heart of the wilderness. TIme had been cruel and had preserved the old human structures of pre inception, leaving them in the center of a ghost town.

 

"We should scrounge for anything.."

 

arachnus sighs.

 

'THere has to be some old water source... I mean we can always pluck up a ghoul or tweo if needed."

"Nah, knowing us those ghouls wont last us the day. Especially if they're as skeletal as the ones we just passed up." Ghiest hissed as he looked around at the empty sunscorched buildings around them. "Let's be careful, there could still be something living here for all we know." He looked up and around with his four eyes as he tried to look for something like a water tower or tanks, things people usually held their water in these kind of places. After that they could search the buildings and see if there was something left to eat still, wither it was ghouls or sealed foodstuffs people were fond of stockpiling in the case of the end of the world or something.

yo usee a tank in the distance, but it is raised, much farther than arachnuses combat tendrils or his big meaty claws can reach.

 

 

"Gheiiist...... Go up there and toss down the choke hose! Ill be the test dummy yto see if theres any drinkable water in there!"

[Armoured Priest]

"I got it, I got it." He said through his bony mandibles as he slithered up to the base of the tower. Using both his scythed limbs and his serpentine body, he tries to climb up the skeletal construction that held up the water tank as he grumbled.

you get up there, and you can already hear something is wrong. Inside you hear the groans of the undead and even smell the rot of stagnant water. Arachnus cocks his head up at you.

 

"Is there anything wrong? im getting a small whiff of rot...."

[Armoured Priest]

Ghiest was still surprised to hear anything in the unit, let alone the moans of ghouls. Though that surprise quickly turned into frustration. "There's fucking ghouls in here! How the hell did they get in here?!" He shouted back down to Arachnus. If they were the old inception day walkers they had come across earlier, they couldn't have climbed up in here for he could think little to no reason for them to come up here let alone capable of doing so. It was more than just the water that smelled bad to him, he continued upwards to the roof of the tower and see what he could see for there would have to be a hole or hatch that these things went through to be in here. And what's worse, he was thinking they were in the process of becoming a flesheap, with all the undead packed together in such a confined area and the water more than likely making them mushy enough for it to happen.

Its obvious the ghouls are clumping, in the later stages of forming a flesheap, but you can see that these are not inception ghouls. THese are recently infected ghoul, probably some vagabonds who had been chased up this water tower due to the herd all around you.

 

 

in the distance, you hear something hit metal, and are flung off the water tower, a long length of ghoulbone having just missed your face and buried itself in your shoulderplates.

 

"Gheist!"

 

arachnus yells as he runs over to you, helping you up.

 

"are you ok?"

[Armoured Priest]

"OW, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!" Ghiest practically shrieked as he squirms to get the ghoulbone spike thing out of his shoulder with his mandibles. "I hear something go fucking ping, and I get this shit?!" He grumbled as he spat the bone out. "There's a flesh heap forming in that tower, and then I heard...something in the distance, next thing I know I'm on the ground." The omniarch explained as he calmed down a little, as much as he could with his overactive adrenal glands now going off. Something attacked him, but with the conflicting info he had, he didn't know by what.

arachnus looks up and suddenly lurches forward, covering you with his body as a hail of the spikes come down on his back. The spears all plink off or wedge in edges, but soon enough arachnus stands.

 

"Waht are.."

 

the rooftops move in blurs, waiflike figures in ghoulbone hurl spears from cover as arachnus huffs.

 

"ID RATHER WE DIDNT!"

 

he snarls, using his claw to shear one of the support legs away from the tower, dropping it in a screech of tortured metal that sends the fetid pool of ghoul down the street toward the pursuers

"Well that's fucking new." Ghiest hissed after seeing the rail thin looking spear chuckers. "Alright kids time to say goodbye to this shithole." He said as he scooped up the grub that was scourged and slithered swiftly to catch up with Arachnus. Being hunted down by a weird ass hunting party was not something he was expecting when they crossed the border, he wondered for a second if they were some breed of ghoul or really fit humans. The fact they were using tools, so that was a clue at least.

more spears rain down upon arachnus as he begins to pick up pace, moving down ancient streets that seem to be getting narrower and narrower.

 

 

"Stop."

 

he says suddenly, looking at his surropunding.

 

"They are trying to captture us."

Ghiest did a quick look around and realized what Arachnus was saying. The hunters were forcing them down narrow paths in order to get them cornered for easier pickings. "Fuck it, go through a building and fuck up their plan!" the serpent omniarch screeched as he already headed to a building that looked like it would have high enough ceiling to accomandate Arachnus and the rest of them.
