This is my story comp entry. I don't know whether it'll be accepted by prosperan son due to old events. (hopefully forgotten)Im not in it to win it just to show how much I like writing stories. Any way here goes

The final fight
For Kite Arca, who stood by me no matter what.

++Astropathic choir intercept XA774, 965.M41 message received by choir master-litany of smite. Black templar crusade fleet.++
++Transcript follows.++

++This is Talos fallen, Champion of the Ultramarines...static hiss... Lost. I repeat all is lost. We are outnumbered and outmatched. The enemy have titans. They are unlike anything I have ever seen before. Captain Julianus is dead. We have but three squads remaining. Our air support is down and most communications are cut off...static hiss...As the most high ranking body here I beseech all imperial forces that receive this to come to our aid with all due haste. May the emperor guide you++
...static hiss...
++ Message lost++

++Authentication of champion Talos verified. Message origin confirmed as Raben, sector Obscurum. Message forwarded to the bridge for Marshal Arca's attention. Mark: most-urgent++

Dead, all dead. Running through the deserted city streets Cairos thought of those who were gone: His parents, wiped out in the first attack; the members of his P.D.F squad, Juno, Felps, Sican and Culd, all gone, Killed by the invaders whilst evacuating citizens, And Cara, his beloved wife, cut down and butchered by the merciless xenos whilst defending her uncle.
"It's just me then." slowing down as the street opened up he spotted a vehicle in the road. A fully functioning Chimera APC with a mounted heavy stubber on the roof. It looked almost too good to be true. Scrambling across the debris Cairos reached the Chimera with little difficulty.
However, any hope of a way out the city was washed away when he saw what had befallen its crew. Three charred corpses lay in a crumpled heap on the floor, giving off the stench of burnt flesh. Terrified Cairos backed out of the APC but stopped when he came face to face with the gaping mouth of a flamethrower. Cursing he realised it wasn't a ray if hope he had stumbled upon, but a deathtrap. The alien in front of him started to rattle and with horror Cairos saw it was laughing. Turning to run a second time a jet of liquid flame washed over him and started to consume his body. Moments later the flames died down and Cairos collapsed, another burning corpse to add to the xenos' kill score. Eyeless sockets stared at the orange sky, his jaw locked in an endless, silent scream.

Upon entering the bridge Marshal Arca knew something was happening. Chapter serfs were running to and from their stations and there was a sea of endless chatter. Raising his voice above the noise he shouted "What is going on here?!" At that everyone stopped and stared at the Marshal that had suddenly appeared. "Well? Answer me!" Trundling up to him on augmented legs came a senior serf in his late one-fifties. "We have received an astrotelapathic message M'lord." Without looking at him Arca indicated the man to continue. "It was received not too long ago" he said softly handing the Marshal a data-slate. "It's marked most urgent and bears the symbol of the Ultramarines I believe."
Taking the slate from the elderly serf, Arca punched in his authorization code and started to read. When he had finished he handed the slate back to the man and turned to leave the bridge. "Tell Captain Stratton to set a course for Raben, Sector obscurum. It seems our cousins have run into some trouble."

We are going to die here. For some reason since arriving at the Jungle planet Talos Fallen had known it. Standing in his set of master-crafted power armour, the champion looked over the hill and down into the valley below.
Twisted wreckages of burnt-out vehicles lay strewn across the landscape, and tossed around in between them like broken toys lay the dead. Most were of the xenos, but many spacemarines were in their midst. Once or twice Talos spotted a fallen titan, each a landmark of the valley by right such was their size.
The battle had been tough but they had emerged victorious. Yet it had been costly. The Ultramarines were down to three squads and a single dreadnought. "We won't survive another attack." Turning around Talos saw his only surviving scout, Cobyn, "Your right there Scout." Sighing heavily he started to walk back down the hill. "Ready our remaining troops. If we are to go down, we'll go down fighting."

The astropath woke in shock. It felt like a gauntlet was wrapped around his throat. He started to convulse and bawl about the end and a great loss. A single shot rang out and the mewling stopped. "What did the witch forsee master?" the initiate asked. "Damnation" came the reply "Ready the dropships, prepare for descent." And no sooner than he'd spoken Marshal Arca walked out of the chamber, bolt pistol smoking.

It was over. He could see that. There was but fifteen of them left Closing his eyes Talos recalled the events of the past thirty minutes. The Eldar had attacked at high noon and as soon as they had arrived, honoured brother Corvakus had carved a bloody path into the oncoming xenos. He tore them limb from limb with his power claw and reduced them to ashes with his combi-melta. Still, he was the first to fall. A lucky shot from a fire prism crippled him, leaving the warrior to the merciless banshees leading the charge. Second to go was tactical squad Owanga. Tore apart by razor wire launched from a mobile attack platform. Finally assault squad Cion had fell to the blades of the howling aliens. Only half of squad Kyme remained. Scout Cobyn had died taking a beam pulse meant for him, and Talos wasn't about to let him die in vain.
Grabbing the fallen chapter banner from its bearers dead fingers he raised his voice above the sounds of battle. "Brothers, the end is near! Here we make our stand! In the Emperors name we shall know no fear!!" Hearing these words the few remaining battle brothers rallied to him and fought to the last man. Blasting his way through the xenos warriors Champion Talos Fallen, last surviving Ultramarine of the first company, did not falter. Sprinting up the now blood stained hill he took many shots to his body, a considerable amount piercing his armour, breaking bones and bursting organs. Finally succumbing to his wounds the champion placed the standard in the earth and collapsed. As his eyesight faded he could make out shapes hurtling towards the ground through the sky. For the last time Talos smiled.

Justice had arrived.
