Blinding white light filled his vision - blurred and distorted beyond focus. The pain lancing through his ribcage was the only thing keeping him conscious. Keiya brought his right hand before his face, eyes straining to make out the shapes of his individual gauntleted fingers. Head falling back from the effort, he rested for a moment, taking in a deep breath that caused a piercing pain so earth-shattering that his eyes began to flood. He was broken and beaten. Today would be that day that he lay his life out and offer it up for the glory of the Emperor. The prayers never came to his mind - they were useless to him now. He had his peace and had paid his price in flesh and blood for decade after decade. The time had finally come for him to toss his life aside and accept his rest.

He could still hear the blood-thirsty roaring of the orks as they danced around their victory. As dull minded as they were, three marines stood no chance against the horde that had flooded the area. They had barely held out long enough for the colony inhabitants to evacuate the area and make it into their lifeboats. The colony would surely be exterminated to rid the sector of it's infection - and Keiya was the only living marine left, if living was truly what he was.

A wave of focus washed through his mind. Beyond the mass of shifting forms, weapons, and bleeding red eyes, the bodies of his companions lay beside him. Beaten, broken, and maimed within their armor, he wasn't sure that they could even be identified any longer. The orks disgraced their corpses by continuing to deface them - stripping them of their armor and beating upon the flesh and blood within for fun and thrill. The rage was so great within him but his body wouldn't budge. Slowly the darkness began to swarm in. He could hear the footsteps of the ork coming to lay the final blow into his exposed head as his mind began to give in.

"wake....up..." It came so faintly.

Keiya felt as if he were never at war - never at the end of anything hostile. He was completely unarmored and standing in a field of snow-white emptiness.

"Wake....Up."

Looking down at his feet, the voice echoed through his head. The faint sound of feathers - The pounding upon wind. This wasn't the site of his defeat...what was this? Where was he? Why was everything suddenly so..clear?

"Wake. Up."

The voice was growing louder - ever closer. He could feel his strength racing through him brand new. He had surely died.. this was his reckoning. His great battle.

"Wake Up!" The voice boomed from directly in front of him. His eyes cleared - the area illuminated as if he had fallen into the very heart of a raging star. Forcing himself to stare at the voice before him - it's powerful radiance threatening to burn him to ash - his very soul shook in awe at the sight of the magnificent wings that had been told of for centuries. " By my command you shall STAND!"

Keiyas' eyes snapped opened as the axe of the ork was baring down on him. Every ounce of pain in his body seemingly vanished. Blood poured from his wounds as he brought his foot up to slam into the chest of the ork with a force unheard of. A pride and rage burned from within so deeply, eyes swirling in a mass of hate of the Xenos and renewed fire fanned by the voice. As blood spilled through his vision and tinted his world a crimson world, his lips parted in his chapters' battle-roar. "Sanguis vita est!"

This was not his grave. This horde was not his doom. This world was not to fall. From his right, a hellfire barrage of bolter rounds and plasma tore through the air and pelted the ork horde before him. He reached to the ground below him and wrapped his fingers around his fallen combat knife, bringing it outwards from his chest. With the Blood Angel squad moving towards his position he smirked - " Thank you, Father." With a pulse of his heel he darted forward and directly into the horde, broken, bloodied, and determined.

"I scar my armor so that you may know, for I am a Templar of Blood."
