[scrambles]

This is my first story after a long break, I dedicate this series to our very own Sanctuary, that said let's jump balls deep into this!


Chapter 1: The end.

We try to form some ethical reason for the events that occured four days ago, try as we might, none manifest. Men of religion explained it as a test of faith, to weed out the sinners and nonbelievers, men of science swore that the only logical explanation was some hyper advanced, mutated offspring of the parasite known as sacculina.

Whatever the case, our military wasn't ready for it, our cities weren't ready for it, and i wasn't ready for it.

"would you fuckin quit writing that? No ones making it out of this crap, go get drunk or laid. or both" shawn grumpily mumbled and went back to polishing his rifle, wholly uninterested in my upcoming retort.

I had to bite my lip to refrain from talking back, he wouldn't hear it and it was likely better to stay on his good side, after all he was the one with the 12x power scope, and he had more than proved his capability to not only bust open a head with a .308 round, but to hit the cranium in just the right way to splatter cranial slop and chunks of skull all over the person in trouble. Nice guy.

I wasn't quite sure why, but some time ago i made it a point to document my day to day life, I had enough money to buy some notebooks and ballpoint pens. Although it felt foolish and a wee bit narcisistic at the time, i'm more than glad i went through with it; I get the feeling it will preserve my sanity and keep my emotions under control.

There's no denying it, the things that wander the streets and alleys aren't reasonable, in fact you could call them zombies and be half right. I say half because they behave wholly unlike your run of the mill shamblers, the worst part is they're smart.
